I know it's impossible to keep a boat looking perfect, especially given the harsh conditions that it's in...

But am I the only one who obsesses about every scuff, crack, scrape, blemish, discoloration, pimple, etc, on their boat?

I need to learn to let go.

Any boat owner's psychiatrists out there? :smt101

Nope, When I had the 30ft Sea Ray. I washed her twice a day when I was at the marina.

My wifes a Psychologist...................could get you an appointment

same here. i am obsesive about my truck, boat, house, job, equipment, tools

DDD, I'm in. 3 cars, a boat, and a dinghy, and I spend too much time washing, polishing, waxing, buffing, worrying. The boat does look like new, though :)

I’m all in here too. Can’t stand anything loose or out of place. Seeing a vehicles dash laden with junk drives me nuts. Water stains on the metal work or glass drive me nuts too. Maybe it’s that attention to detail that keeps us buying quality boats like SR.

I was told I have OCD because I don't like sand on my boat nor wet feet past the cockpit area. It was almost like looking at a puzzled dog with their head cocked to the side looking at me. When I was asked what I did when the wife first got sand on my boat, told them I got up and cleaned it off right away. She thought I was nuts. Wonder why the marriage only lasted 2 years.....

I'm glad a got an old "knock around boat". I can't imagine how obsessive I would be with a new one. Be right back, think a bird landed on my cover.

Why have toys if they aren't in good shape? A little OCD dosen't hurt when it comes to keeping ones boat nice, or a classic car. It's all the same, and Cheers to those that do it.:smt038

Boats NEED to be kept "Ship Shape". Where do you think the saying came from? BTW, I keep a vacuum cleaner on my little boat. Just to tidy up a couple of times a day, that's all.

When we were on Sydney Harbour for 4 nights, the friend we were tied up to, fell over when I bought my portable vacuum cleaner out.............he was calling out to his wife, he keeps a Dyson on board !

I don't think you have anything to worry about. We wash down the boat from bow to stern after every trip we take. The cleaner the better.... Especially since I enjoy doing anything as long as I'm on the boat.. whether it be cleaning or just relaxing.

I think that is why boating is such nan expensive hobby...we want everything perfect. I just bought a boat that was checked out and got A+ for looks and function. But now that I own it, I am finding small flaws that I MUST fix. BOAT!,,,

I am right there with the rest of you. I spend five times more time cleaning, patching, repairing, polishing and cleaning up dog hair than I do on the water. But cleaning the boat is my therapy. The neighbors think I am nuts but there is nothing better than sitting in the boat that is parked in the driveway with a frosty cold one admiring your work... lol
