Finishing up the 2nd season with the 380DA. Decided to do a little decluttering yesterday. Good grief, the stuff I have already collected in a short 2 years. More spare/new parts (I never installed), bolts, nuts, clamps, hoses, stuff I don't know what it is, towels, cleaners, sprayers, waxes, etc. Filled up the back of my SUV and she is floating 1" higher now ;)

I have an area in the middle of my salon floor that you could laterally lie down in, if the hatch was large enough. It is my hardware store, I never buy one of anything always two or more depending on what it is. It has saved me when away so many times I can't count. So be careful what you remove and store in the garage. It isn't going to help you in there.

Always good to have extra stuff

I don't disagree with you for on the water repairs. What I did do yesterday was put spare clamps, hoses, bolts, nuts, and such in plastic containers versus scattered all over the boat in different places/boxes.

Some of this stuff was just, stuff. Various waxes and cleaners I had tried. Parts I had bought and decided not to replace. Speaker wire, extra RCAs, more tape than Amazon could use in their shipping department, soaps, cleaners, etc. 2, 3, 4-ft dock lines that I'll never have a use for. "Cool" first year boat owner stuff I purchased that I just don't need. And then there was the previous owners stuff from last year that I thought to myself "what is this?", last year, then thought it again yesterday, so I got rid of it.

From doing our 1200 mile trip to/from Chattanooga/Ft Myers, I bet I have $5,000 worth of spares in three large plastic containers that sit on my 3 battery banks. a new inventory for next summer is on my list. What a job!

I've created a spreadsheet with all the stuff/spares/parts/tools, etc, with their storage location on the boat. Before I did that, I would go look for "x", couldn't find it, go buy another one, now have 2 "x" and still can't find either of them!

Haha, and smart, welcome to my world. This is exactly the kind of duplicate stuff I found. I will need breadcrumbs to lead me to where they are stored ;)

Do I really need 24 AAA batteries?

We just got the "you can no longer leave your dock box for the winter" email.

Which blows because last year, we got the "you must have a white fiberglass dock box and that's it" email. So now I have a 7-foot box filled to the brim and no place to put it this winter. First world problems

The amount of serving pieces we have is crazy. Because, you know, the serving pieces have to coordinate with the menu. Nespresso maker, toaster, toaster oven, way too many plastic cups, plastic utensils, metal utensils, tongs, bowls, swimming towels, showering towels, dish soap, hand soap, 10 different kinds of sunscreens, "spring water ice" for drinks, bottled water, tons of Diet Coke (100% on me), panini maker, waffle maker. This is just from memory.

You know that saying how the things you loved about your significant other when you first met will ultimately drive you crazy years down the road? Read above again.

I really need to do a complete clean up and inventory of the various storage locations on the boat. Like others, often when I replace something, I buy extras of the part or the fasteners or both. So they accumulate. It’s very handy to have a lot of spares and fasteners, but I forget what I have. Spring is the worst because I get the itch and start buying stuff. And some of the stuff is things I already have, but forgot. Like a rechargeable drill this spring. I knew I had an older one with e NiCad battery that was not great. So I bought a new Ryobi drill. Problem is, I did the same thing last year, so now I have two.

OH OH OH!!!! After we bought the boat the wife bought everything possible to serve a gourmet, breakfast lunch and dinner on board, filled every cabinet, and dont make me start about the custom made throw pillows all over the dam boat.
All we eat aboard is Jersey Mikes subs, or if we must have a hot meal, its Dinty Moore on the alcohol stove. I got all the SeaRay engraved rocks glasses, coffee mugs. Probably worth more than the boat.

Sounds like our wives are friends ... Same here. You forgot the Cuisinart fry pan and griddle as well. All of my in floor and under sofa storage is for the galley.

I find it’s easier to trade boats then try and figure out what you need/don’t need on a boat.

I joke but it’s funny how stuff accumulates. I found when it’s time to winterize, I pull everything out and inventory, clean storage areas, and decide what was needed, what wasn’t, and what we need to address issues on the water. I have a small boat, but I don’t need three bottle openers, I don’t need a full tool set, rather this fall I customized one with the sockets, wrenches, and screwdrivers I do need. That kit went next to the first aid kit, spare prop, and added safety gear. I don’t have 17 people on the boat so I removed extra life jackets, freeing up more space. I trailer so I don’t have a dock box but I do have a small trailering tool kit that goes behind the seat in the pickup.

At the admirals request last weekend, I brought home the crock pot and and appi serving trays. For the heck of it, I brought home the dual element heating tray as well. There is much still aboard :p

I am good on tools, fluids and spare parts. But I have other storage issues. We haven't cleaned out our ski locker in years. i still have skis and a wake board that are for kids under 100 pounds. My "kids" are 29 and 27. We haven't used either of those for at least 10 years. We also have a bin with at least 100 can koozies. We have never had more than 18 people on our boat. We also have at least 6 bottles of vinyl cleaner and a couple bottles of fiberglass cleaner. In the past it has been a PITA to clean out the boat because everything had to go in the car and directly home. We didn't have a place in our condo for it. Now that we have a garage at the lake about 100 yards from the marina, we can empty everything into that garage and sort through it over the winter. Hopefully we can eliminate half the crap we have in there.

I really need to mount a bin in the bilge to hold my tools and fluids. I am just afraid to run screws into the hull in the bilge. I just don't know how thick the fiberglass is there.
