Alarm driving me crazy!

Ok.....I am sure this question has been answered here before : where do you buy the software and the wire connection to diagnose a Mercruiser when the alarm sounds? and whats the cost .....is there an aftermarket version?

Finally got a computer check of the problem. The mechanic said it was a bad shift switch. I ordered the switch, however it was scheduled to be shrink wrapped today, so I will continue this thread in the Spring after the switch install.

problem finaly solved. When servicing outdrives found the water inlet holes had closed up to about 1/8" dia. Reamed them back to 1/4", problem solved. Perhaps the alarm was low pressure since the engine did not overheat.

Good to hear. But your mechanic sucks! He made you buy a new IAC, two new water temperature sensors, a new shift switch...and the problem turned out to be a free fix! :huh:

I am also glad you have it fixed.....however there is a lesson learned here-if you mechanic does not have the $400 scan tool find another mechanic!
I can change parts with the best of them.......... at the rate of $0 per hour!

Just got back from a trip on my 320 had a couple of small beeps last trip Mecanic says
water pump I go for it and all is well for 2 hrs and on my way back down Iwc about 1500 rpm
same little beep jut for a couple of seconds and that's it... Always somethinq!!!!!
Any ideals? Thank you
