Ain't nobody watchin' the NFL?????

I risked watching the Vikings / Packers game at my own peril. Happy to say, I'm done for the year. That was 3 hours I'll never get back.

I'm like many on here in regards to the kneeling. That turned me off, so I turned them off. I can get the highlights with the local morning news while working out. However, I do a customer event every year where we go to a game, but it's more for camaraderie and tailgating than the actual game.

I may get significant disagreement, but I think in 20-30 years Football will go the direction that boxing did.

A few decades ago any time there was a significant boxing match - it was headlines. Front page of newspapers. There is still boxing today, but nothing like it used to be. Small audience, off shoots of MMA, etc. Not the headline grabbing news any more.

The concussion issue is real. Equipment can help. But the primary change will be rules driven, changing the game. Parents of young kids are not as supportive of football as they were in the past.

We are already seeing a decline in attendance across all levels of Football, I think this will continue.

Pains me to say it - after all - my nickname says it all - FootballFan...

Agree with Football Fan ..definitely people and parents are waking up to the dangers and long term effects of playing football. As the father of a young son, I will be pulling for him to play soccer, baseball, or anything other than football. And I am originally from Texas. And you know how nuts we are about our football.

And back to the original question ..Mike what the heck happened to Seattle last weekend?? All they had to do was win that game against AZ and they had it made. First round bye, home field through playoffs, division champs ..but nope . Ugh

Ugly loss, but when 1/2 of your starters are out of commission it happens... Sunday's game is going to need a miracle.

I think Mark hit the nail on the head. With their two running backs gone there wasn't much left to work with.

Seattle has signed Marshawn Lynch and he will be on the field against the 49ers. My wife is treating this like it's the return of the Messiah. Me, not so much. He definitely will add some excitement to the game but he hasn't been on a field for awhile. It'll be interesting to see how he does and how much he's able to bring to the table for the Hawks. I look at it like this--he can't HURT the Hawks by being out there. Maybe he can help, maybe not. At least by having him out there he'll bring a dimension to the game that they wouldn't have without him, and that's their running game.

I wouldn't bet on the Hawks to win but it will be a fun game to watch....I hope.

So Steelers voted TJ Watt as MVP. I hear the Patriots are considering the Kraft Productions cameraman for theirs :).

Sorry, had to get that in...lol. But yeah, Steelers are in a similar situation. Starting their 4th string QB, 2nd and 3rd string RB's, 2nd string receiver, 2nd string center, and a few games 2nd string TE. Hard to score many points with a scrub offense...lol

Tell me about it. Except for the Bears, they are the starters.

Nope but just watched KY pull out a win over Louisville.

I knew as soon as I mentioned the Patriots the haters would come out. FWIW ever since "deflategate" Brady's passer ratings have actually improved. Go figure. BTW other quarterbacks have admitted to manipulating air pressure as well. Of course they don't get mentioned cause they're not Brady.
start your whining - great to see the last place fins beat them at home - no bye this year....

Guess that's what happens when you can no longer record the opponents play calling

The Colts feared the Gillette locker room was bugged. Of course there was no proof of that, and since being accused, the Patriots requested the visitors locker room be swept clean by officials before the start of each game.

So let the haters/losers keep the accusations coming.

From https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...iewership-increases-for-second-straight-year/

In 2017, when NFL viewership in television declined for the second consecutive year, some saw it as a sign that the sport of football was in permanent decline. That hasn’t held true.

Viewership increased during the 2018 season and has increased again so far in 2019, with the average NFL game now reaching 16.3 million viewers, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Notably, the NFL is strengthening its lead over everything else on American television. Over the last three years, the NFL led the most-watched non-NFL prime time shows by less than 2 million viewers. This year the gap between the NFL and the most watched non-NFL prime time shows is more than 4 million viewers.

The Monday Night Football contract between ESPN and the NFL is up in 2021 while the contracts with NBC, CBS and FOX are up in 2022. The next round of TV deals will likely yield a significant increase in rights fees, as NFL ratings are increasing at a good time for the league.

They always seem to have a problem with the Dolphins, but Pats are in the playoffs not Miami.
