This is probably true. But if it was my boat, and those two hose barbs are close enough inline then I'd loosen the strainer from its mounts, put a short piece of hose between the seacock and strainer, then remount the strainer. Much better to have a straight shot rather than that loop that could trap air or, in the off season, trap water.It's probably not possible to run a straight-shot from the strainer to the seacock. They're too close, the hose too rigid. That would be my guess...
