I went out for a boat ride and had my AC on. It was working fine and pumping water. When I got to my destination and went into the cabin it was hot and the AC was no longer working. There was no code on the SMX panel. It had switched to a temp reading of 55 degrees, the lowest setting, and when I tried to raise it it would just bounce around to 58 or so and go back to 55. I could not get the compressor to turn on. After shutting it down for a while, I got the temp control to work but could not get the compressor to come on. Has anyone seen this before? Any suggestions on what to look for? Is there a fuse on the compressor somewhere that could have blown? I have not yet checked the sea strainer but normally if this is blocked the compressor will come on but shut itself off after a few minutes.

So I assume you had your gen. running while underway? Is your gen. putting out the required voltage?

there is a High-Head pressure push button breaker near the compressor, that may have tripped and if so, will need to be reset (Pushed in).

If this is the issue, the question is why did it trip? you may have a clog in your water intake filter.

Does the fan come on?

Thanks for the responses. Nothing comes on except the display. I hear no relays or anything. I will check for the breaker near the compressor this weekend and hope that is it. At the same time I will check the sea strainer for flow.
The generator seems to be running fine. I have not checked the voltage but all esle is working, stove, charger etc.

I could not find the breaker near the compressor. I found the sensors but no breaker. I seem to have water flow through the sea strainer so that is not it. I found the fan does turn on but when I push the button for AC or heat it turns the fan off and nothing else comes on, no sound or the like.

Were you getting water flow discharging out the side of the boat?

Sounds like your water pump is shot...I just had the same thing happen to me. Not a hard fix.

I reset the SMX controller tonight to factory setting and all started working well. The compressor came on and tha fan. Thanks for the input. It was an easy try and worked great.

I should have thought of resetting the thermostst back to its factory default settings. A friend on our dock just did that last w/e with positive results as well. Cheap fix, but they also had fur growing on the front of their r/a grille + they were also trying to cool down the rest of the dock at the same time. They cleaned their r/a filter, closed their hatches, thawed their iced up unit, but still had to do the factory default thing to get it running again.

I wonder what made the issue in the first place that resetting stat fixes the problem? Would be good to know.
