Anybody going to the AC Boat Show this weekend? If so please take some photos of the new Sea Ray models. I want to have a section of the site with photos tours of new boats. Whatever you can get will be fine. If you want to include a paragraph about the boat that will be appreciated too. Thanks! :smt038

I didn't know that the show was this weekend. Oops!

Jim:

I'll be at the show tomorrow. You can't usually get any full boat shots....they pack them so close together.

All those full profile sexy shots are on Sea Ray's site. We can pull them off there. I am more interested in just random shots that you don't see in the brochure of actual production models.

Went last nite, The show ran from the 4th to the 8th,
REALLY down sized
ONLY 3 of 4 boats over 42' alot of empty spape and the table top show
was also 2 isles shorter.
usally go 2 times over the weelenk but have
not real reason to do so.
Sea ray (Marine Max) had the most boats but only 1/2 of what they had previous years.. I been going for 10years..

We went Thursday, it was pretty crowded for a weekday. We got on all of the 35-40 ft express boats, I didn't see anything that I would trade my 380 for. I liked the 43 Dancer but the $900K price tag is not for me. Oh sorry, it was $7xxK something with the show pricing. :smt021

Something about they wouldn't hire a crane this year so that cut all of the 40'+ convertibles out. There was alot of center consoles and walkarounds. Not really any performance boats either, Sunsation was the only one that I saw.

I went to the Virginia Beach boat show today. The place was really busy... I was surprised... The Sea Ray sales people had people waiting to talk to them while I was there... (I am not joking).

went todat (Sat) to the AC show, very busy. Very dissappointed in the lack of decent sized boats. Where were the Tiaras. The 43 and 35 Sea Ray were awesome. Got some ideas for turning my PC into a chartplotter and a great quote on new Nibral 4 blade props for the boat. Also, ideas for a killer sound system.

Formula still pushing those adjustable rate boat mortgages.....lol

Boat loans.....most in the high 6s with minimum 20 percent down.

NOt a bad show

There are definitely some people out there with money looking to deal. The local Cadillac, GMC, Buick, Pontiac dealer had eight families looking and test driving cars when I was there today.

Best regards,

We went yesterday aft. and this morning for a while. Not a lot of large boats, Marine Max had our Sea Rays all crammed together - not near the set up of the NYC show but I thought the crowd was decent yesterday aft....we left there about 5 then. Today more people, famlies. I found some good deals on some things I needed...might have bought more today but pissed off a few grand on the craps table last night....such is AC...

We went to the show today. They definitely downsized for sure. I asked several of the dealers how they were doing during the show and most of them answered that they were pleasantly surprised. As of 1PM on Saturday, Marine Max said they sold 20 boats. They said typically Saturday in itself was a 20 boat day.

Concerning the boats I saw, I was impressed with the 441 Meridian Bridge, the 40' Monterey, the 35' Chaparral. The 441 Meridian seemed very spacious and I liked several of the features including the walkable gunwales, the covered rear deck, spacious bridge seating, to name a few. The 35' Chap I think had to be the most spacious cruiser of its size. Some very well thought out items made it on that boat. I toured the 43' Sundancer and I saw several of the design flaws that many spoke about. Helm headroom was horrible, the gauges above your head were akward to read, and the Zeus control stick felt like an after thought. Just not a fan of the boat. Plus the price tag was ridiculous. You could have purchased two boats for the price of that one in the same size. I was also very unimpressed with the Formula's this year. Overpriced and the layouts didn't do much for me. I think we did the whole show in 4 hours including lunch.

I did get a good deal on the the "Rescue Tape" that Gary suggested in another thread. Online it is 2 rolls for $25 + shipping, I got 3 rolls for $20.

My wife liked the 40 Monterey, I told her I wanted a divorce.

The Formula cockpit seating felt like a rock.

I actually did like some things about it, even though I don't want to admit it on here...

I didn't like the aft rumble seat. I'm not too much on the new Ikea looking interiors but I think the Monterey had the best fabrics/surfaces and heavy duty fixtures. The use of black on the walls was different but I kind of liked it. The home entertainment center was cool, although I don't know how long it would stay in place.

I too liked the fabrics. I think Monterey makes a nice vessel. I wanted to see Laron's 37' Cabrio but they didn't bring it. I saw Larson's 33' and they had suede fabric (instead of the typical leather/vinyl) which I thought was different.

One thing on just about every boat that bugged me was access to the bow via their walk through windshields. They were the most akward things to go up and down. The only one that I found easy was the Chapparal. They had wide steps all the way up.

Went to the show on Friday afternoon. Some of the dealers I spoke to said that they were having a good sho, and were ahead of last year. There were no large Vikings or Oceans. The Sea Rays and Meridans were of the smaller size. It lookede like everyhting could have been trucked in, but they would have needed a small travel lift to get the larger Sea Rays and Meridans on the floor. There were a lot of brokers there selling pre owned boats, more so than I recall in prior years. MM had a booth to see pre owned.

I didn't go this year but while speaking with the guys at MM they said they sold 46 boats at the AC show (seems about right from what Doug was told) and 90 something boats at the Miami show. They said they were down 10 percent from last year.

Let's see the final tally meaning how many of the orders get cancelled after the show.

Yes, the final tally could be much lower. My nephew sells Porsches out west. Of every 5 he writes up, 2 or fewer get financing. The rest don't happen. It's a tougher credit market out there.
