I was at the Atlantic City Boat show yesterday. It was my favorite indoor show.
In 2003 the show was big. Big cruisers, big sport fishers and big go fast boats with little bikini girls on deck. The market place had real boat merchandise venders with all the new boat must haves.

Today It is 2013. The show had mostly small boats and venders selling housewares. There was no bikinis.

Sad, I must accept it is 2013 not 2003.:smt089

I was there yesterday too. It was nice to look around. For me it was more of an excuse to go gamble and drink. Fun weekend though.

The St. Louis Boat Show is now $50k to $80k pontoons. Makes me wonder why a used 28 to 34 SR sells for $50 to $120k. Seems like the used cruiser market would be more desirable. I think the built way too many of them for awhile.

I felt the same. Hot Tubs and Motorcycles have NO place at a Boat Show! Biggest SeaRay was 33'.

We had real boat stuff in our display, just about anything related to electronics, outboard motors, safety stuff like epirbs and liferafts, even had standup paddleboards. Did you see our display? I agree, there is not too much to get excited about in the vendor isles.

Yes Jim, you did have a good display with your show trailer. I always like to stop in to see what cool boating items you have.
Still, did you buy any hot sauce or flavored peanuts at those venders? They were good.

I was there on Thu... got beef jerky, flavored peanuts, hot sauce.... oh and a some LED lights from Jim.... the show had many pontoon boats and very few shoppers. Then went to Revel for dinner, drinks, and some blackjack only to be amazed how empty the place was... there is no way they can pay the electric bill let alone pay the banks back...

I have a tradition of going every year and getting my free Sea Ray Owners Club hat at the Marine Max display. Owners club people weren't there this year! The show is really changing but it was still worth going since I'm only 45 minutes away. Still pissed off about the hat though. Mark

I worked at both the Louisville and Lexington Boat Shows this year. Nothing bigger than 26 foot bowriders either. Lots of pontoons and deckboats, which for our dealership was the hot sellers. Very few runabouts sold, but used cruisers were popular. We had pictures of all our used and brokerage boats and have had some showings since. The show was bigger for the first time in a long time. Had been decreasing in size every year since 2007. Lots of other things besides boats and RV's there too. The sign of the times I guess.

My son went to school at the University of Delaware. Each fall, our parents weekend was somehow during the Annapolis show and each winter, parents weekend happen to always fall with the Atlantic City show. It is really depressing as I used to love going to AC, Cleveland and others to pass the winter blahs. Of course, there is always Fort Lauderdale and Miami but then I just read a post on fuel prices, Ugh!
