Hi guys.

Yesterday was a wonderful winter day. Weather estimated 18C/65F and sea 2-4 Beaufort but lucky me was 20C and 0 Beaufort. There was no wave no wind sun and hot.

I took some pictures and video with my phone, but not good resolution the video, to give you an idea of where I boat.

In the video you'll see there is an island at port side of me. It is the Kinali Island where me, my family and my parents usually stay there at summers since as I hadn't been borned yet.

There is 9 islands called Prince Islands and in 5 of them are civilized/life and 1 is special property others are empty. But there are very goog bays inlets for all kind of weather even for strong NE and SW gust/storms.

My country is a beatifull place for tourism especially for boaters. You can do summer time activities both in 4 season. My country is also a peninsula, 3 sides are sea; north is Black Sea, northwest is Marmara Sea where I live, west coast is Egean Sea it is the natural border to Greece and the south is Mediterenian Sea neighbour to Cyprus and near to the other African and Asian countries have shore to Mediterenian.

I do cruise or fishing every possible weekend with about 5-6 hours trips and a total distance of 15-20 nautical miles where I cruise at 20knots. So I only wait for spring to overhauling bottom paint engine maintenance and especially for swimming because now sea temp is 11C/52F

Also the global warming makes winter short in my country. Less rain no snow and warmer weather usually SW winds.

Don't ask that. It's made me sick.

Originally at 3000 rpm but with C4 (Volvo Penta part number)size prop. But with 1 people full diesel full water it cruises 20 knots and wot at 3900 rpm and 32-35 knot.

But I always cruise with my wife and daughter so It doesnt plan, cant exceed 3000 rpm also more then 2 adults impossible.

If there is 7 people on board full water and less then half tank diesel again plans at 3000 rpm and there is no problem.

So I bought this boat to be more then 2 people on board and make long trips and stay at nights.

There was two choice for me.

First one is buy 300/335DA with twin (same KAD300) diesels plan at 3000 rpm cruise same wot same, but give two times for boat price, three/four times consumption because of more length-widht-height, more marina fee, double maintenance cost but I would be happy.

Second is depich the prop with one smaller set of props C3 size. Plans at 3500 rpm same cruising speed and wot 29-31knots.

Guess what I did. Bought the C3 set and happy again with my 280DA. I lost a few knots of wot but still same consumption level, same range and despite I cruise more 500rpms then C4 stiil I'm in cruising range of rpms which engines recommendations.

PS. the speed in the videos are cruising 20knots

This is a common problem for single diesel 280DA.

I found this solution from boatdiesel.com.

If you search in that site searay 315 KAD300 should find 4-5 people like me in different European countries. All solved it by changing the props with smaller.

Because of this reason in Europe with diesel option mostly 260DA/275 single 310Hp volvopenta and 300/335DA twin 285hp volvopenta are sold. In my country there are many 280DA but there is only 3 diesels one is mine.

I love my boat and want to own it many many years.

Single engine less operational costs, with bow thruster very easy manoeuvring in tight conditions, huge cockpit 9 people can seat, cabin for 5 can sleep especialy full beam mid cabin, two dining tables and many other reasons.

I use Raymarine C80 radar and gps and raymarine ST6002 auto pilot.
Also I have Garmin Nuvi 205 car gps. I use it in my car when traveling to Greece. Sometimes use it in my boat to check the ray.
