A "Block Member" feature for the thread author can preserve the integrity of a thread.

The OP first post in this thread is disturbing. He's 38yo, this his what he's been taught, it will apply in any context, to all interactions, not just those on a boating forum.
He started a couple threads, the drive oil hose thread, and the 'I want to run my 17 footer in 3ft waves' thread. He said he had no experience and knew nothing.
But he didn't like the help he was offered, it wasn't what he wanted to hear so..... CSR is an unhealthy environment, full of those that like to 'propagate misinformation', we 'ridicule', we're 'demeaning', we're 'rude' 'abusive' 'bullies'....and we just 'don't like him'. His solution is to block, to cancel, to not let us speak.
Our society is mass producing this kind of 'thinker'.

This is the Cause and Effect of what used to be our Educational System having been turned into a system of Indoctrination. You know, the one where everybody gets a 'participation trophy' and nobody wins because they don't want to hurt the loser's feelings.

Back when we were 'educated' we learned facts, history, logic and how to employ common sense.
Now, those being 'indoctrinated' are conditioned to blindly believe what they are told (Pavlov would be Proud) and are completely unable or unwilling to see facts, history, and logic when they disagree with what they've been told. Common Sense has gone beyond being an UN-Common Commodity, and now seems to be completely MIA.

Oh, and . . .
Whoever just read Proud, and had any rainbow like thoughts, you need to go and look up Pavlov's Dog.

Imagine for a moment.....he got his wish and he could block anyone from a thread he created...... In a short period of time .....he would be the only person posting in his thread.

Most trolls just want to piss off members and eventually get banned. This guy posted nonsense, got angry with member's responses and self banned. I suppose that is an improvement of sorts.;)

I've thought this over some more...you guys don't know shit, cautioning him on running his boat in 3 footers. His boat is rated class C you know...
The boat is C rated. Not rated for off shore but should handle 2-3 ft waves decently.
I am trying to prepare for 3ft seas and avoid anything over that at all costs

I missed this from another post, and agree completely:

If I wasn't so disgusted in this kind of attitude that's now all to prevalent, I'd laugh. One of his last posts "I was showing another member how useless comments can add up in minutes. I made maybe 10 comments in a couple minutes.
I was trying to make a point that I can add up my # of comments made by contributing nothing to the forum. Kind of like Techmitch posts.
My point was it is a useless statistic.
Don't worry I am done with that.
"
I have to assume the "...need a bigger boat" comment (priceless) means he's never seen the movie "Jaws". @techmitch, thanks for adding to his angst and making him go away.

Now you have me worried. If Biden can nominate a guy who has no flying experience to head the FAA......he can nominate this guy as Secretary of the Navy based on his "blue water" boating experience.

Here's my conclusion, and I'm so very sorry to have to say it.

Being in this time and place at 66 years of age, I am THANKFUL, LUCKY and BLESSED to have had the opportunity to be born WHEN and WHERE I was in all of human history, for I got to experience the HIGHEST STANDARD OF LIVING IN ALL OF RECORDED HISTORY SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME.

The sad part is that going forward this lifestyle and the opportunities and freedoms I have enjoyed will be diminished.

Can't fight it, theres not a thing I can do to change it, so I'll enjoy whats left of my time in this clean little town, running my business and backing out a bit more and more, futzing with the boat and hobbies, and having some boat adventures for as long as I am able.

The rest of the world will burn, but as Alfred E. Newman once said. . . . .

In spite of your Catholic upbringing of which you are so proud, I was the one that authored your italicized quote above. Nater was/is an innocent bystander that quoted me before you plucked that from his post.

While your version of indoctrination is no doubt a valid one, I was speaking much more specifically to the dumbed-down public education system that is mass producing the mental giants who are intrinsically deposed to initiate threads like the one we are now posting in.

I too, consider myself blessed to have had a private grade school education, and like you, would not have changed a thing. In hind sight, I would also say that moving to a public high school was a blessing, in that I became aware early on of how dumbed down the difference really was.

I don't think that anyone would disagree with the premise that Religious Indoctrination has been going on longer, and is more intense than what the public school system can muster.

I've found the best way to block comments I don't want to read in any given thread, is to hit the home button on my browser. Works every time, without fail.

This is exactly the kind of uncomplicated logic that completely eludes the OP and his cohorts.
