Forums often have unnecessary arguments that come from a member commenting something rude or demeaning to minimize the original posters questions or thread topic. A block feature for the thread author can stop this in its tracks.

If members can be limited to what threads they can comment on based on how they get along with the original poster can ultimately stop abusive behavior. This will also reduce the amount of pages in threads that have nothing to do with the thread topic. Saving the website money on data storage over the long term.

Members often team up in ridicule to discredit or minimize the original poster. Like bullies on a playground. The ridicule can often distract from facts and lead others to believe the opinion of the person using ridicule spreading misinformation or at least distracting from the thread topic.

For many years sometimes decades forums carry information for future readers to take advantage of. If members argue and comment off topic or propagate misinformation this leads to the valuable factual information being buried. If the thread author was able to prevent some of these abusive members we could preserve the integrity of the thread.

A simple block feature for the thread author could help hold the integrity of the site and thread. This will only lead to a more helpful and productive environment. Forums are not a place for fighting or bad language at the very least it can stop that. This can allow someone who is abusing the forums to be pushed down which will promote and reward good behavior.

An option for the thread author to block members from commenting can only be a productive feature for the site and I would very much like to see this come into effect.

What are you 12? Grow a pair dude.

I use a forum for information, not a social gathering. I do not need or want to fit in. I am just an idealist who thinks a place of information could be a bit more civil.
To each their own. Whether you like me or not doesn't really have a place where an exchange of mostly technical information takes place.
Forums are like a public made encyclopedia not a bar for talking trash with your bros.. You guys are kind of proving my point.
It's funny to me that you both commented, I took this spot as a place for admins to review not members lol. It was a suggestion to the website not other members.
But again kind of proves my point. Neither of you gave your opinion on the idea of a block feature, the thread topic. You both just gave your opinion on me personally.

As I said you do you….ignore us….carry on

I hear you, but my point doesn't apply to a social forum. If I use the ignore feature it still leaves someone the ability to steer the conversation away from the thread topic. Also to talk smack whether to the author or someone else. My point is it distracts from the thread topic.
Maybe forums have evolved into something else, but they are meant to gather the most information about the thread topic in the shortest amount of comments possible. To not only save the site storage fees, but allow people who search these topics in the future, like on google, to get to the point and find what they need. Not sift through a bunch of children talking trash.

Like this thread?….Look at a few technical threads…there are both here technical and others and they are labeled appropriately…you have the best of both worlds here

Just further proving my point, this conversation has nothing to do with the thread title. Threads where this happens can be cleaned up with a block member feature or better yet like youtube, the author has the ability to delete peoples comments. Which helps to clean up the conversation and keep it on point.

I will stop commenting and leave this to the forum. I think I have said and proven my point whether anyone agrees or not. My comments are just redundant now.

I say this in the kindest way possible. Seek help. There is no shame in seeing a doctor.

I don't believe (or seen) there would be an option in the users' permissions that forum Admin could implement a regular member to set forth a scenario such as you're suggesting as I don't believe (Though I could be incorrect too) any of the forum website designers felt the need to implement a design of that nature mostly in part that is in part of a forum Moderator to deliberate and clean up if felt needed... As a forum member, that is what the post report button is for to where there is a place to share your views of the situation at hand.

While I'm not sure of this website platform, A website platform by the name of XenForo offers a Moderators tool called :Manage reply bans: to where a username can be inputted and they won't be able to post in that particular thread but still be able to view it and post elsewhere to help avoid banning the member altogether.

So where I'm going with this is in my opinion, your suggestion wouldn't necessarily be only with a particular forum website such as Club Sea Ray but rather it would be finding the particular website hosting web software designer (in which I just now noticed CSR uses XenForo).. Go to XenForo's own forum, join and post your suggestion there too to see if maybe they have or ever considered this option or not for regular members vs Moderators as often the web software designers/writers will post there too should CSR Admin decide not go there and inquiry about this scenario themselves.

Here's the other place to join and ask your question(s) if you so desire, What's new | XenForo community

So…… do you see the responses you are getting?…. Show me one forum on the internet that would respect your request. You won’t get it because it was a silly request to begin with…. But I think you have some great responses

Just trying to be civil golf man I don't want to argue with anybody You guys are too valuable and there's too much help here, and what I've learned is huge

If this type of feature magically became available, who would hear you complain when you were blocked from posting?

Be careful what you wish for.

OK - I'll come clean. I'm probably one of the reasons for this thread.
I commented a bit salty on something this fellow posted about boat wakes being the main reason to get a bigger boat and he went tilt. I now need to get a 3rd grade education and cut my daddy off from giving me my current boat.....
