It's hard for me to forget this day. Being in the security industry I must have taken 200 phone calls 6 years ago today; many of them Government agencies panicking that security contingencies were at play(here we were 3000 miles away). A little consequence compared to the people losing their lives directly by the Planes into the towers, Pentagon and Pennsylvania field, the Firefighters and others attempting rescue people from an unimaginable nightmare come true.

I want to simply pause a moment, remember the heroes we all watched on what would be the following days and weeks of coverage.
9-11-01 should never be forgotten much like
• Pearl Harbor 12-07-1941
• D-Day 6-6-1944
• May 8th, 1945
I also reach to the Families of those lost and hope that time will provide them healing, closure and a reverence to their lost loved one’s memories which will go un-faded.

Our nation was obviously affected by this in many ways. Whether you are against our stance in Iraq and Afghanistan or not, I will support our troops and hope they make it home safely and hopefully you do the same.

Good post Todd. Much like JFK's assassination and the space shuttle disaster (both of them), many of us will never forget where we were when we heard about these incidents.

Not to get too political (Get ready Wesley  ) but 9/11 and many other crucial history altering events will get swept under the rug (much like Monica) and become nothing more than a historical footnote if the wrong people are elected in November '08.

OK....let me have it.....both barrels!!!! I can take it......and I know Jim likes me because my burgee arrived this morning!!!! :smt038

Very good and well said Todd.

Politicians who have an Agenda are unable to fulfill the needs of America. Govt. should keep us Safe and Defended from outside forces. We live in a free Capitalistic Society where Laws should be obeyed or changed and everyone who is able should providethier own Wealth. Al W. :smt024

Amen

Well stated Todd, today was a sad day, however, as many have said, my family and I will never forget....God bless America

Some wounds never heal, and this attack is one of them. The political label yopu choose to place on the solution, the only end to conflict between opposing and unreconcilable sets of ideas is for the followers of one set of ideals to perish.

It has been that way throughout history.

I was assigned to the Pentagon on 9/11; I was away from the building on travel when the plane hit. This was my second tour at the Pentagon. My first tour, '95-97, was served in office 2E474 (2d floor, E Ring, 4th Corridor, Room 74) which overlooked the Pentagon Helipad. This is where the plane hit on 9/11. Not my time to go.
When we got back to the Pentagon on 9/14 our office had sustained smoke damage but we had not lost anyone from our section.
The area along the principal running/jogging route from the Pentagon Athletic Center was a debris collection/forensics area. For days afterward, as my friends and I took off on our daily physical fitness runs, we would run by this area. It smelled strongly of fire and burned flesh. I will never in my life forget that smell.
Six years on, I have been to Iraq, I have friends who are still serving there, a good buddy has earned three purple hearts leading his infantry battalion, and the son of one of my former Commanders was recently killed in combat in Afghanistan.
I've edited my post as I'd like to get back to boating topics--care and feeding the Cummins is my "happy place"

Skip,
Thanks for sharing and thank you, and others for serving our country!
I'm hoping McCain can/will do it.

Skip,

I work in the AFNORTH CONR AOC as a Senior Operations/Offensive Duty Officer. Our new AOC has chunks of the World Trade Center out front, and in the lobby, we have memorabilia from each of the targeted sites, including the Pentagon. It's quite moving.

We work daily to prevent another attack from the air. Since 9/11, we have directed our look inward from the borders as well as outward to protect from the new civilian aircraft threat. God willing, we'll succeed. We will never know, hopefully. The only verifiable outcome would be failure.

As a former State Representative i will reframe from opining about much of this debate but one thing is for certain, the current state of politics and its politicians have never been worse! Iam disgusted with and indeed saddened by what i see and hear. The truth of the matter is the country as a whole is being slowly given away to the special intrest with the highest amount of $ and true statesmen are few and far between. Lastly, The YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN THAT SERVE OUR COUNTRY DESERVE OUR RESPECT and we should support them in thought, word and deed. GOD BLESS THE USA AND ITS BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN THAT KEEP IT FREE!!!!!!! JC

The Gary/Wesley Ticket perhaps?
Someone's gotta keep him in check
