I have a '81 sundancer with an ice box,was it normal from factory to put in just an ice box and not a fridge ? also, how easy is it to remove,it is leaking onto carpet in front of box when ice melts and does anyone know where to buy a 12 volt fridge the same size?:smt100

Not sure about icebox vs fridge.

Should just be an R&R. The one in our weekender was just a regular 12v aftermarket unit. I pulled it for more storage and we just used coolers.

The Sundancer has the original unit (it appears) but I've never had it out.

I think i saw one on detroit craiglist not too long ago, claiming new never installed, cant remember the price but on there you can haggle a bit.

Thanks,I looked at ebay and other sites and they want 500-600 bucks which i think is way over priced, just hate having to by a block of ice and it taking up half the beer room and melting in a couple of days :smt089

LOL Yea got to make room for that beer.

You may also want to check out your local RV dealer or browse RV suppliers on-line. You will find fridges along with many other items like faucets, etc.. are exactly the same and usually a bit less expensive than your marine suppliers.

The fridge MFGR's usually provide the required dimensions needed for the opening and clearance.
To access their dimensions and pick a model, here is a link to Thetford's marine products, which include Norcold Refrigerators:

Our weekender had a little dorm room type fridge in it when we got it and it fit nice. Course it wasn't 12V and didn't have the little pin to keep it shut while under way either... Thats why I pulled it, 120v was usless to us on that boat.

Thanks for the input, guess i will save up for one,too late to ask santa. I just find it over priced for the size it is,have a small dorm size unit in our bedroom and it was under 100 bucks and you can buy a fairly nice full size home unit for 700-900 bucks. oh,well thats life in the boating world.

Is it more $$ because its 12V DC and 120V AC?
