58 Sedan Bridge Official Thread

Has anyone been able to get replacement parts for the salon HVAC units, I need a blower motor replacement for one of the 16000 btu units STX16C.
I've got one of my salon units "rattling" when I shut it down - fan bearings. I thought I've found a motor for ~$450, but my wise and wonderful Admiral, just said a new unit is $2600 - just replace them both...they are 18 years old! I think she's right. Right now it cools and heats just fine - just does a little "dance" when I shut it down.

I replaced my bridge unit with a 26K CitiMarine unit last summer, and I think the other 4 are on "borrowed time" at 18! I saved the blower unit from my bridge CruiseAir, but haven't investigated if it would fit a 16K unit...

We are in the middle of replacing them. The repairs were adding up and they are very inefficient. Purchased the 16k for $3,070 and the 12k for 2,900 from Wright Marine in Clearwater Florida. Wayne may have the motors. Give him a call.

Ken - did you buy Dometic, CTM, or Mermaids?

Domestic Cruisairs. The current thermostats are compatible. We have already done the forward stateroom. Now we are doing the master and one of the salons. I have the salon torn apart, but the 16k unit is being delivered today. Should be just wire up and connect. Waiting on fedex.

We replaced the bow stateroom Cruisair Stowaway with a Dometic DTG, 12K BTU I think (or at least same BTU as original).

We replaced the one on the bridge, too, with a Dometic 27K BTU model.

The whole lower panel under the helm had to come off to do it. That starts with removing the "knee muff" upholstered bit first; it's held on with Christmas tree (door) clips, and if they come off nicely using a clip removal tool, you can most likely just stick the thing back on when you're done.

(If not nicely, if some clips break or weren't working anyway, it's an upholstery project to expose the hole, insert new clips from the proper side, reattach the soft goods, etc. Not difficult, just time consuming.)

Even with that whole lower panel off, the guys had a job of it to get the old unit out and the new unit in and connected.
