480 DB Owners Club

My spec sheet says 51'2" with standard platform so maybe Matt's 52.6 is with the GHS platform because it's definitely larger. I use 52' for transient marinas.

Here are the specs for a 2000, I think it depends on the platform and year. What year are you looking for? I'm thinking mine is approximately 52' maybe 52' 3" Hope this helps..

SpecificationsOverall length 48'3" 14.71 m
w/Std. swim platform 51'2" 15.6 m
Beam 15'3" 4.65 m
Draft (inboards) 44 1/2" 113 cm
Dry weight 40,400 lbs 18,325 kg
Fuel capacity 500 gal 1,892.5 L

OK, I checked the accumulator tank and the pressure gauge was zero. I pressurized the tank and then tried the faucet but still very slow water stream. Removed both outlets to the pumps and turned then on and there's a pretty good flow coming from the pumps. I'm guessing it's the accumulator tank??

My accumulator tank broke and leaked water everywhere as the pumps just kept on pumping. I just took it out for good. Found out my water pumps don't need one anyway.

Yes, I checked the faucet screens, the slow water flow in evident on all outlets including the heads. I get a pulse of water then air then more water flow. I can fill the bowl but it takes very long to do so. I'm going to replace the accumulator tank and see if that helps.

480 DB Gang ...
My wife and I are looking at a '99 powered by Detroit Diesels 6V92 DDEC with a total of 1212hp. Seems at least 10% smaller than CATs and Cummins we've seen. Thoughts about the reliability and power delta? Thanks in advance.

Be very careful with DDECs they are known to be problems. Have certified Detroit mechanic check them.

A very knowledgeable friend of mine bought a 1997 Sea Ray last year with DDEC's and while on a cruise out of state, one of his detroits died. He was laid up for 2 months getting both engines rebuilt. Basically lost most of the summer and a lot of $.

All engines seem to have their issues, Cats, make sure you have generation 3 after coolers. Good Cat guy will explain

I own this type of boat. My Detroit mechanic told me to run from those engines. Cat have aftercooler that must be maintained and I'm sure Cummings have issues. Every engine does...

Out with old....Sub Zero Refrig Died. Freezer still works. Going to replace all with 4 drawers. Should I go with 110V GE/Marvel/Sub Zero, etc. or Vitrifrigo/Isotherm AC/DC? I will have a working Sub Zero Freezer available if anyone needs. Thanks for your thoughtsView attachment 46420

Didn't see anything further on your post. So what did you finally go with. Thinking of replacing mine along with other work we are doing.

Other work you are doing, huh. that is an under statement. lol

You right on that one.
I guess the your boat did fine in Matthew?

Those Vitrifrigo DW180's look nice, and so does the Isotherm DR160's. Drawer Models. Not sure if I would go 1 freezer and 1 fridge or a different combination.

Cherman, we made it through hurricane. The only item that broke was the bow thruster controller. It was something I wanted to upgrade and I guess "the man upstairs" thought I should as well. I ordered a new controller from VetusMarine.
