480 DB Owners Club

Thanks for the info. The Reverso took forever to pump 60 degree oil in. Hot used oil coming out went very fast. 8 gal each side filled the blocks midway between the marks. Oddly, I filled my 10kw Westerbeke generator with 4.75 quarts as the maintenance manual stated and it was grossly overfilled.

Now I need to see if I have sink cover holders above my fridge as well.

My port main salon window is leaking. I just did the repair myself, but in the event it does not work and I need to hire it out has anyone had these repaired/sealed professionally and what should it cost roughly to rebed and have new trim gasket applied.

I have a 52 DB located in Southport Marina. I had a leak from front windshield. I could see where the caulk was separating in spots. Zimmerman Marine located at Southport Marina did a spot treatment replacing caulk in various spots. Fixed problem and they blended it all together pretty well. I keep it covered with black sun shade so can't see it anyway. It really didn't cost that much. Maybe $200-$300 for them to repair. Contact me at rbsunchaser@ymail.com if you want to discuss further.

Thanks sunchaser I will call them if this does not hold.

D.C. Is one of yours leaking or is it just cosmetic?

I'm getting some drips from one corner, mainly cosmetic though... looks like someone tried to seal it before..

I have the same issue on the port side salon window. I started to pull the trim piece out and it just came apart as it was basically caulked below the trim piece and just tore it up. I taped everything off and have sealed again. It has. It rained so I don't know if it worked. Marine Max wanted 1500-2k to rebed. Now I know why all the sport fish boats have this area all fiberglassed. Good luck my friend.

I've been going back and forth with taylor made regarding the gaskets, and from what i understand is that there is an agreement between them and searay(Brunswick) that we need to go thru a dealer or Brunswick to buy the gaskets. I've not given up just yet on getting it direct. I'll let you know how i make out. I want to make the boat the way it's suppose to be rather than just band aiding it..

DC - I've saved a post from Frank Webster on this subject - you may recall seeing it - I don't think he will mind my re-posting of it. I don't remember which model boat the P/Ns are from though:

Sea Ray dealers buy parts directly from Taylor. Taylor has a master vendor agreement th at prevents them from selling to us direct.

We have encountered several dealers who won't make the effort to source parts for older boats. Here is one that will:

Treasure Island Marina
3605 Thomas Drive
Panama City beach FL 32408

John Mass is the parts guy there and he is one of the best in the business. When you call, ask to speak to John if he doesn't answer himself. It is best to call, speak to John, let him know what you need then give him the time to research what is available. Expect to give them a credit card number, they usually order the part, receive it, then repack and ship on to you if that you need is ordered with other things they need. If the vendor will drop ship to you, they prefer to do that since it is cheaper and gets you what you need quicker.

Has anyone had to repair headliner in forward master room? When I bought the boat I saw some separation between the center price and the port side. I would like to fix the port side so it matches up much more tightly.

Question about the electronics surface to the starboard side of helm. I removed the original Raymarine and replaced with Garmin. I am trying to figure out what to use the would make the helm look nice as the Garmin 8212 cover almost he entire previous hole except 2 inches at the top and barely fits in the mounting area as a whole. I don't think starboard would look good as you would only see the top. Any help would be great. Thanks.
