Shaps, having prop shafts on my boat ceramic coated . While lower units are off want to clean and prop speed them . Have you ever had lower units off and if so did you clean exteriors and what did you use ? Any help much appreciated.

Hi @500oasis
Are you having issues with your prop shafts or just doing it as protection?
I was thinking about propspeed last year but ultimately decided just do a touch up of the anti-foul that the boatyard in Alabama used. I know some have sanded them down and then done primer, etc. but call me chicken.... I didn't go down that route. Would you consider propspeed just for your props? Wish I could offer more on this one. Happy to chat more about it.

Minor water intrusion on one lower unit . Shafts are grooved so I'm going to ceramic coat them and while everything is apart new bearings and seals then all should be good . JT down in Somers Point is a friend of a good friend of mine . Spoke with him at lenght as he did his years ago . I'll keep you posted through process. Glad to chat anytime .

Your guys will ceramic coat your shafts? Or are you having it done?
Where are you getting them coated? Local? Definitely want to hear more.
My guys take apart and reassemble , we are sending shafts to Flamespray Northwest . This is the guy that machines and powder coats area that seals run on. If you like I will send you before and after photos . Text me 973-418-0448 I haven't got the posting photos down yet.

@ocgrant
Hence my question.
I'm going to try and take a look this weekend.

I agree not the nicest looking thing but I would take ugly over 20+ hours of hell.

So i gave some thought to this....
Running wires high from helm to anchor locker on the high side would be a killer... cabinets, shower & headliner all way more work than it is worth. Since you are only running a small cable I would come down in the entertainment center, go underneath it and run it up the center channel on the port side. Into the bedroom, up and under the bed on the port side, remove the speaker and drill a hole into the anchor locker there. I know this because I ran my bow speakers that way and since it is a small hole it is easy and safe to seal it up. Probably a few hours to do it this way and would work.

Hello group, has anyone bled the fuel system after doing the filters? if so can you please explain how to...

Yes, crack the filter loose one half turn, Switch the engine to the on position. It will prime for 20-30 seconds and stop. Shut the switch off and do it again. Takes 3 or 4 times to completely fill the filter. I like to be in the engine room while this is happening with my wife managing the switch. Once that filter fills up crank it tight and then start the motor.

Got it thanks! do you do the generator the same way?

yes basically the same. Much smaller filter just turning on primes it pretty fast

Glad you asked that. Getting ready to change my for the first time myself. Was done just before I bought the boat and then had it done one time when I had one of the fuel/oil coolers changed.

Ocgrant,
I noticed that you have done a lot of upgrands and improvements on your boat. Good looking work. I’ll be in ft Lauderdale on the new River in April. Are you interested in showing your boat to a fellow 48er?

Sure I will send you a PM of my mobile number.

So let's talk values for a moment. I'm loosely debating listing my boat for sale. I don't, thankfully, need to sell her. But she's pristine example of an open checkbook NE boat and I've taken countless hours (as we all have) to ensure she's an unbelievably clean, time capsule of a 2006 example of one of the finest boats Sea Ray ever built. Mechanically completely up to date on coolers, exchangers and all - and under 1000 hours on the mains. While the price of fuel will annoy everyone this season, it certainly won't stop us from doing the same boating we've always done. I've seen some ridiculous asks on Yachtworld / Boattrader, etc - but what do we really feel is the right number to ask in a private sale. I don't need a broker, I've sold (and bought) many, many boats - and have helped friends / acquaintances sell their boats with no issues. People are always posting on social media sites looking for our boats. Letting her go will be tough, but I'll be on to the next one - and like all the ones I've had before, will deeply regret letting this one go. So, what do we think?

I thought long and hard about this as I had multiple opportunities to get "all the money" this last year but.... I just looked at it like yes I could sell easily but replace no! The thought of being without for awhile is just not in my cards. Secondly I have spent a lot of time and money to get H2O Therapy the way "I" want her, no matter what I would replace her with it would be a year to get the "replacement" to the same and I have to admit I am just not up for giving another year to that work right now as I am having too much fun enjoying her right now. While I know this boat is a stepping stone to my "forever" boat, I am going to stand on her for awhile longer at this point.
