Clothes Storage Ideas?

I love my 48 DA. But the master clothes storage has a lot to be desired... The Admiral wants to know how I can rig up a “proper closet” in the aft cabin so she can hang dresses and such. It would need to be temporary. I was thinking of one of those expanding shower curtain rods across the aft stateroom. But afraid the tension would put dimples into the whisper walls. Any other ideas? P.S. we have the washer/dryer installed in the hanging locker in the aft stateroom.

At the dock what kind of incoming water pressure do you have and what is the max it should be going into the boat?
I have a pressure regulator installed to control high pressure going into a filter housing I installed inside the aft garage.

Our dockside water supply is almost water pressure is almost 90 PSI. Our boats have an ITT/Jabsco 45 PSI pressure regulator already installed on the freshwater supply line just behind the bulkhead, and then like you I have an additional pressure regulator just prior to a filter system I installed in the lazzerette set to about 40PSI.

I took out the regulator on the backside and replaced it with a new one so I could see and control it. It was stupid having a regulator where you couldn’t get to it easily. When I took it out a couple of years ago I remember it having a screen inside it that was completely clogged.

here is the set up I installed about three years ago.

That looks great! I have a very similar setup, and added a couple extra shut off valves so it does spray me when disconnecting. I'll try to remember to take a pic.

@OldManP Glad you got it. I checked the parts manuals for both the 420 and the 48 and they appear to be the same actuator. Good luck. We were just in Cape May last Mon-Wed. Stayed at South Jersey Marina. Cool place. Came in from the west entrance to the canal. I want a local to explain how to make that hard right turn at Red #14 to get back to South Jersey! My depth finder went crazy both times I traversed that area, telling me that I was tickling the bottom.

Did you have to buy a new bracket where it attaches to the ram? The oem unit would spin when at bottom or top so you can align the holes. This one does not seem to have that feature

No. Stick a screw driver in it and turn it 90 degrees counter clock wise when viewed from the end of the actuator (not the motor end). Not sure if you've seen this video...

Hello all, I'm considering selling my 2002 Sea Ray 540 CMY primarying because of the high bridge clearance and looking at going to a 2005-2007 480 Sundancer. My last 3 Sea Rays have been Sedan Bridges (2001 400, 2003 480 and the 540). What are the unique issues with the 480 DA that I should be concerned about and any advise as to where I might find one. Thanks in advance for your thoughts. John

I like that, the factory piece is too low of psi in my boat and i hate using it. I am going this direction and removing it to install a controllable one. Thanks for the idea.

Finished the shitty rebuild of the pumps today and found the issue in one of them. Found a plastic baby wipe bag cover stuck in one duck bill from the PO. Also found one motors gear set was weak and skipping so off to West Marine to buy a new motor. Got it all done, both rebuilt and working great. Not a fun job but had to be done.

Also installed new 12V and 120v outlets behind the helm seat so I can hook up the admirals new toy. I stepped up and got the Dometic 95 qt CFX cooler / freezer. This thing should be great as I am tired of dealing with Yeti’s and ice every day. Time will tell but it will get as workout in 2 weeks on our 10 day Bahamas excursion. Ran it last night and was impressed. Even installed the control app on the admirals phone...LOL

Well the admiral spoke her mind this weekend after having to heat gun the ice block in the never cold refer. Week and a half until we leave for the Bahamas and I have to install this Vitrifrigo fridge next. So much for the weekend off… For once I hope it is an easy install!!!!

OC good luck with the install. You know nothing is ever easy…. I hope you can provide notes and maybe some pics of the process.

Thanks

Hey Rocket,

How is the Sunseeker treating you? We will be in Block on the 5th till the 8th. Looks like we will miss one another or pass on the in and out. We go a few times per year now that we dock in Mystic so let me know when you plan to go out again.

JB

Doing well! Heading to Montauk tomorrow.

@Rocket
How long will you be in Montauk. We leave tomorrow around 9am but will be back the 8th

Where in Montauk are you staying?

So no issues getting new one down into Salon and old one up and out?

So new unit is 3/8" wider and 3/16" taller than old (just confirming)?

Is that white "line" some sort of drain?

So….typical Italian sizing. Looks like you only need 1/8 of an inch all the way around. I will have it finished tomorrow.
Getting the old out and the new inside the salon is easy, tight but easy.
