48 DA Owners Club

Hi Grant,
I've been watching the Boats to Go site waiting for these to become available again and this week I saw they are taking pre-orders for June delivery. It would be nice to get back the storage my fenders are taking up but I wanted to see if you are happy with yours.

Thanks.
Yes only used them a couple of time so far but happy...

I have rebuilt both vacuflush systems one last year, worked perfect. This year rebuilt the aft system and I cannot get it to build enough vacuum to shut off. I have isolated it to the vacuflush by removing the hose from the toilet and caping the inlet and still not nearly enough vacuum. I haven taken it apart and checked everything and am at a loss.
Does anyone have any ideas?

thanks
JB
How deep did you rebuild the unit? Plunger?

Plunger, gaskets and duckbills.
Hate to say it but R&R from the boat, tear down, inspect and do it again. Since it is capped and self contained has to be in the unit.

I took it out and tore it down 2x’s and still the same. Sprayed everything with soapy water and found no noticeable leaks. Will call the company on Tuesday for tech advice. I’m stumped on this one.

Did you look at the vacuum switch? That switch actuator diaphragm can crack over time and leak also.

Does anyone have a good source for replacing the lights in the showers with LED fixture.

ttmott,
I carry a spare so I swapped it out thinking the same thing and no difference.
Assuming you have the VG4, here is another idea and this happened to me - That O-ring number 9, the two duckbill valves and spacer number 10 are sometimes difficult to get in correctly and allow the pump to seat on the tank as well as seat/seal those two duckbill valves below it. I found that if the pump assembly doesn't sit tight and stable on the tank before the bolts are installed there is something awry below it. Might want to take another look at that...

My dock mate has a 48DA - 2006 and his refrigerator is not getting cold. How do you get the trim off to remove it? Can the compressor be replaced? He started looking for a new unit and everything is on back order too. Is there anything to do for troubleshooting? any problems getting them out and off the boat? Hoping w a 48' its an easier project.
Thanks for any advice...Ed

Well, the marina is wrong. Bent shaft but prop is OK; how lucky can one get if they have to damage something! Heck look at my posts in the last month in the 500/52 Sedan Bridge threads.
A new shaft is upwards of $2K plus the wait time. Somewhere in your area are reputable prop shops; give them a call they can straighten without issues.

ttmott,

Thanks for your post today. I called and spoke to Environmental Marine this morning and they also suggested to look at the no# 9 gasket. So I tore it apart and see the gasket looks a little out of round and flattened out so I ordered a new one. So we will see what that does.

Regards,
JB
