48 DA Owners Club

Thanks for the advice guys. I was not aware about the low idle option with the ETS. Once this current situation lifts, the wife and I are going to start looking at what is available. Have a long checklist just from this thread alone about things to look for.
Not to confuse the issue but mine has separate throttles and shifters and I have and Engine Sync, low and high Throttle and Cruise buttons as well.

I went from a 44DA w. conventional clutches and throttles to a 48DA w. the ETS - it took me a short amount of time to learn the "short throws" that another posted above, and once you get the hang of it is actually easier!

Stupid question... I have 2 8D batteries which one is house and which one is starting? I need to wire in something that is "hot" all the time and don't want to interfere with the panel or battery switching. I would prefer it be wired to the house battery so if the "what if" happens i can still start the motors.

There is a 2008 48 DA from LI going on the market soon. In our Marina pristine with 700 hours NE boat.

Anyone know if the trim tab system on our 48’s can feed gauges to give position data?

Blackwater Hoses:
Has anyone replaced their blackwater hoses that run from the head to the vacuum generator in the engine compartment?
Mine are original and while the outside jacket is cracked, the hose is dry and no odor is apparent.
Trying to ascertain if it is a 1 hour job or a 10+ hour job.
Thank you!

Having this done at the boatyard, got an email yesterday...
"The hose that goes to the forward head would not come out as described in the SeaRay document. Once we removed it from both ends, it remained stuck. Put a borescope down to see what was holding it in place. The photo shows a clamp, which is located right under the water heater, will not allow it to slide."

Anyone experience this?View attachment 83987

Water heater is in the far back and no pipes underneath it. I remember Jeffery telling me the bulkhead in the enigne compartment where the pipe goes into the cabin area was covered in sealant and a real bitch to get to and pick out to free it up. Not too sure of your issue here.... Right next to the sea cock for the pump out is where the forward hose enters the cabin area and it is covered with sealant. I looked at mine after Jeffery mentioned it and I agree that one looks like the bitch just because of access. I wish i would have done this when all the turbos were off and being worked on because you could easily get there then...oh well

Tks ocgrant
im just afraid now PO may have done some chop job making this way worse... Stay tuned...

For those with the hydraulic lift which was an option on the boat....Is there any spring maintenance which I should be telling my mechanic to do? I have a feeling with the virus situation my boating is going to change and instead of traveling dock to dock i'll be anchoring out more and using the lift much more then in years past since I had the boat. Thanks.

Ok, thank you for the heads up. I’m now less concerned about the difference between the two systems knowing that they have similar features.

Do you know if it has been listed yet? I’ve been scouring the usual listing sites for the past 12 months or so and I have not seen too many new listings with the features we want, in a good condition, for a realistic price. I did seem to miss out on a nice 2008 listed for $399k that was out of eastern LI late last year with updated electronics, hydraulic swim platform, rotating, dual, helm seats, teak upper deck, clean looking engine room and mechanical spaces, tan salon leather seats, current engine services, new plumbing in the heads, and so on.

Ray what’s next???

Shaps, mine were done and they pulled right out once freed from any sealant. I noticed you have a Zues boat and your configuration of the Back water hoses may be different. That said, we had the same issues with the penetration through the engine room bulk head sealant as others......need a real small tech to get in front of that port engine to access that fitting.

So the boat you speak of was my buddy's 48 out of Lighthouse Marina, Eastern LI. He did close and that boat is gone. There is another one coming out of our marina and is not listed yet. I think is coming Live in the next week or so. its a 2008 and I know the boat well. its a 9.8, extremely clean, always maintained and services up to date. PM me and I will send you contact when it is ready to go. BTW, you may have looked at mine as well. We listed in August of last year and sold in September. The good ones go quick and anything out of our marina is well cared for. I saw my old 48 the other day and miss it! Best Searay ever made.

I think a few of us might be interested in your experience with your sunseekeer! We have only been on a couple and have been impressed. Is yours a open or have the closed off glass in the cock pit?

The 57 Predator is a 3 stateroom coupe style boat. There is a large sunroof and a full drop down glass cockpit door to transform the boat to an open lay out. It is definitely more of a sport boat with an aft sunpad and a garage for the dinghy. We looked for 2 years to find the next boat. I was very close to an azimut flybridge but after look at the sunseeker and Princess there was a big difference in build quality. I have the boat only 6 months and took it back from florida in march. Ive been in and out of every bilge and every through every mechanical system. The build quality is Very good. You hear stories about the euro boats and the electrical systems. The boat came with a full set of drawings and wiring diagrams and everything is as it is documented. The interior cabinetry, materials, and fit and finish is what attracted us to the brand. Also the master stateroom is full beam with walk around queen size bed and 6 foot 6 Inch headroom and flat floor. Any specific questions ask away. BTW nothing beats my 48 DA Gelcoat......
