Does anyone know why travision would go into “antenna is idle” mode? This just popped up today. Waited for the weather to clear and still not able to obtain satellite connection.

turned off a few times and it says searching then goes back to “antenna is idle”.

@JB MARSHALL
Last year I had to replace one of the antenna motors on my kvh hd7 antenna.
The support team at kvh gave me a bunch of commands to reinitialize the unit. I saw that message when I halted the antenna.
I had to connect to the ACU via a laptop running a terminal emulator

KVH suggested using PUTTY but any terminal emulator should work.

You’ll need to record the ACU IP address for the HD7 (ACU: Menu -> About System -> View ENET Settings -> IP Address).

1. Open Putty, then select ‘Connection type: Telnet’. Above connection type, enter the ACU IP address, and for Port use 50001.
.

Here was the commands once connected
HALT <ENTER>

DEBUGON <ENTER>

EEUNLOCK <ENTER>

=CALNEWGYRO<ENTER>- WILL DO AZ, EL, & SKEW cals
When those 3 pass

=CALACCELOFFSET <ENTER> -DOES X, Y, & Z> cals
After they pass…

ZAP!

Shaps, thank you so much for the quick reply and for all the in depth technical info. Unfortunately, it’s all Chinese to me and I have no clue how to do what you described.

Any idea what causes the unit to go into idle mode? Until now, It’s worked perfectly for 8 years.

Unfortunately, I don't. Just recognized the message. If you call KVH support they will help troubleshoot up to a point but you'll definitely need to be able to interact with the ACU via a terminal emulator.

If you were closer I'd come help in person

CruiseAire air conditioner. Interesting, on my 2006 48 DA, it is under the aft bed.

His description says he’s got a 55 Sundancer
Yes, but on a 55/58 the master is located aft with full beam/full height and a single bed.
That looks like the aft stateroom of a 48/500

Great Responses guys. What you are looking at is pictures from my last boat, a 2005 48 Sundancer. That is the Cockpit AC system I relocated to under the left rear bedroom bed. It allowed me to keep the Cockpit any temperature I wanted, any day of the year. And, there was no noise in the Cockpit from the AC system. Any temperature, no noise, what's not to like?

Not necessarily...the 55/58 did have a 3 bedroom option. Mine of which is the only one I have ever seen, ever. The Normal VIP is in the bow, but the full beam master below the helm is instead divided into a Queen Bed master on the Star side and an over under bunk bed set up on the Port side. I turned the Bunk bed room into an office which is where I'm sitting as I right these words. Being a single guy, I love the setup.

@Blueone :cool:
All cool.

I’d like you guys to think about something. The cockpit unit on 48 dancer is a 2 ton unit.
2 tons! 24,000 Btu’s. That’s enough to cool complete townhouses and apartments. Shouldn’t you be able to cool the cockpit of a boat? Yes there is a tremendous heat load but still? Really? The answer is yes, it’s plenty of tonnage if you can actually move enough air efficiently thru the evaporator coil to create 2 tons of cooling. So the main reason the factory cockpit AC on a 48 doesn’t work so hot is simply there isn’t enough air flow. The way they shoved it in the little hole and hooked some air vents to it just doesn’t work. By moving it to the lower bedroom, it allows for a much more robust movement of air. You can’t tell, but inside the bed, I also added 2 additional variable speed fans for supply and return air.

@Morgan Jane

Do you know of 58 Dancers with a 3 stateroom setup? Like 2014 vintage? (so later production 55s)

I had called sea ray and they said while available, they didn't build many (or any)

Interesting, mine is a 2008. Mine is number 341, being the 41st hull they built I believe. Like I said, I look at boats for sale all the time just for fun and have never seen anither 3 bed version of the 55/58.

Couldn’t,t you add a variable speed fan to push more supply air?
