Qustion about air horn solenoid.

Took the boat out this weekend for the first run of the year this weekend. Saturday I was out (by the Detroit Grand Prix) and hit the air horn a few times (people waving on the river walk). That night I noticed that the air compressor was running about every 20 minutes, so not a fast leak but definately loosing air. It was fine last season so something has changed. I'm assuming that the dash switch powers a solenoid somewhere and maybe it's now leaking a bit. Can anyone suggesst where it is located (2007 47DA)? I saw the air line running into a bundle around the stbd engine, but didn't have time to follow it any more. I did blow the horn a few more times before I left today, maybe it has cleared up (didn't have time to stick around the 20min).

Mine is in the roof under the horn via the center access plate.

Do you guys run with your bow pads on your bow?

When I bought the boat, I had @KevinC redo my bow pads using the original foam and hardware.
My issue is, when I run with them on the bow, the wind gets in underneath the low part of the pad and pops them up enough to be not just a nuisance but an impediment to my visibility. I've tried bungy cords crossed over the pads to keep them down with some success, but not a great solution.
At this point, I have resorted to keeping them below while running and drag them up once we are docked.

Anyone have a better solution?
(I'd prefer to NOT put snaps on the bow to secure a cover)

Thanks!
Shaps

Shaps, I originally used two buckle straps across the pads and that worked fine. I know you said you prefer NOT to use snaps, but I did have a really nice bow pad cover made and snaps were drilled in. So glad I did this, it keeps the pads from getting nasty, dry, fading and the foam going bad as quick.

Shape,
I had the same problem. Since mine were getting faded I contacted GIOIA Sales, Inc. They did all of the canvas and Sun Pads for all of our boats. They shipped me new ones, with all the hardware, new Sea Ray name stitches, and stainless cup holders for $1200. I have never had them lift up again and they look really sharp. I also ordered the all new back canvas for $2100.
You give them your Hull ID and they will have your boat on file. They are not the quickest to respond since they typically only deal with boat manufacturers(takes about a week after emailing). But half the price of having an upholstery company do them. Looks like they are right out of the factory.
If you need the email address let me know.

Following…I have the same issue. Bungee cords are helpful but far from a perfect solution. The sewn in buckle straps Searay provided suck! Snaps are probably the way to go

Thanks @Hell Froze Over

The bow pads are basically brand new now... Appreciated.

I also bought new Canvas from Gioia (in Fla) when i bought my boat. They were easy enough to deal with. Agreed.
Did they make a bow pad cover for you as well?

No, I just had them make the canvas and sun pads. If the ones you have are basically brand new, and they are still popping up, I would replace the bungees on the back that hold them down. There should be four posts and the bungees should be tight as hell to stretch around them. If the company you used already replaced them then they need to be adjusted or replaced. I believe you can buy them online or reach out to GIOIA and see if you can purchase them.

Mine were worn out and did not take any finger strength to pull around the posts. Since GIOIA sent the new ones I have not had a problem since.

I have a cover over my bow pads made to fit that zippers to a track that's on the bow around the pads. Looks really good this way!

After 1 year 100 hours this is what my engines zinc's look like.

I thought i replied last night but evidently I messed up. I have welting (?) on the leading edge of the bow pad. Same stuff that connects the stationary zipper part for the rear canvass

Thanks @Jaybeaux
I have the same, but the wind seems to be coming up through the gap in-between the track at the foot of the pads. The pads elastic bands seem pretty tight, but the wind causes the lower portions of the bowpad to rise up.

Forgive the pics thru the Sun screen as I’m just leaving the boat. If you look closely, the are several Velcro wraps on both outboard sides

Interesting, I like that the best so far. I like the track idea but that means more holes in the boat and have to make a cover. The velcro straps sewn onto the the lower 2 pads and hooked to the rail should solve the issue. I have been using a ratchet strap when i run to keep them in place, easy but not the way it should be.

I may not be back at the boat until Father's Day Weekend. Will post then.
