460 DA Owners Thread

Looks like a nice boat, I had the same electronics, they work ok, I used them for about 5 years then updated, lot a boat bucks for that. I wouldn't let that affect the buy if every thing else checks out and you like the boat

Hi All !!
I am new here ......I'm in the market for a 460 dancer, and was hoping that I could get some things that I should be on the lookout for when I go to view a vessel. I found a boat in Florida and want to have as much knowledge possible when going to check her out....its a 2000 460
Thanks in advance
Mike
Looked at the link you posted...while I don't know that specific 460, I do know the listing broker Lee Hutton. In fact, he sold me a 460 a couple years ago. Can't say enough good things about Lee and his way of doing business. Lee was a GREAT help with my 460 purchase...he oversaw all the various repair etc things the boat needed, kept me informed of progress regularly. Boat was delivered to me in beautiful condition, on schedule, all handled by Lee. Any boat he reps is a good one, he won't handle anything less. IMO...460's alot of boat for the $$. Tarpon Springs 460 looks good!

thanks for the replies so far...heading down to see it soon!!

srkartholl.....thanks ..that's great to know!

Hello all,

With a little luck, I may be joining the 460 club this week. I have read most of this thread but I am sure there will be questions.

Me too! Just purchased a 2001 460 last week. So excited. We just spent our first weekend aboard anchored out with the rain pouring down. With the hard top it was just fine. Trying to get up to speed and familiarized with all her systems.

Previous boat was a 1971 53' Hatteras motor yacht so this is a "downsizing" for us, but I think we hit it just right with the 460. I wanted to pick up some speed as the Hatteras was pretty much a 9kt boat with Detroit Diesel 8V71 naturals. Also, with the dinghy right off the transom, it was so easy to launch for the dog rather than deploying a Boston Whaler from a flybridge with a crane.

So thrilled and I'm sure I'll have a mess of questions as we move forward.

Cheryl

Hi all,

We are loving the 460 this summer. I have a question though. Does anyone know how to access the salon AC unit? I would like to inspect/clean the air filter but I can't figure out how to access it. Thanks for any insight.

The end table between the sofa and recliner lifts out to expose the A/C unit. No screws to remove on my 460.

As some of you may know, my wife and I recently sold our much beloved 340, and we'll be beginning the hunt for a 460 this winter. So, if you guys don't mind, I'll be sticking my nose into this thread from time to time.....

Welcome Dale,
Always enjoyed your input and hopefully our group can help you in your search.
We've had our 460 since late 2007 and there are very few competitors that hold up as well, in this category. We are enjoying our boat as much now as ever and have made only a few meaningful "improvements".

Hey Dale, will you be looking for a soft or hard top? Just curious.

The admiral has specified a hardtop.....

Hi Gang,
I am new to the 460 thread but a veteran of the 370 thread. I am in the market for a 460 and have been looking diligently the past few weeks. The good news is that we sold our 370 a lot sooner than we anticipated. We loved that boat but I want to move up. :)

We are looking at a specific boat that has some issues, most can be overcome with my 370 knowledge but this is a new one. The washer/dryer doesn't drain the water out of it is what the owner tells us. Since he never uses it, he hasn't cared about this issue but thinks its a simple belt to be replaced. Well, I would care so it would be interesting to know what it may take to remedy this situation. Is there a pump that can be replaced internally?? Of course my first response is that if it is an easy fix as he states, then why doesn't he fix it?? LOL

Any insights or directions to the proper forum to get an answer?
Wish us luck with our search...there aren't many "CLEAN" boats out there.

Hi Bill

I can not give a certain answer on this, my 460 is a European spec boat and the washer / dryer was not fitted, unfortunately!

I did read up about fitting one and was a little concerned that the pump out was a little vague as to where the water exits the boat. The only way to be certain is pull the machine out a little, and establish where the outlet pipe goes to. It may be blocked or kinked or may even not be set to go higher than the machine top as most domestic machines require before they will pump out. Maybe it has become dislodged from its original path and fallen too low.

I would also say that I have put off doing some jobs, only to find once started they take only 10% of the cost, time and effort that I had anticipated. A leaking steering pump at the helm being a case in point.

Can someone tell me what the 1000hr service entails or point me to a guide? This is for a 2002 with Cummings 6CTA. Thanks in advance.

Go to Cummins Quickserve website. You can input your ESN and find all that information and much more. You will probably have to register.

Well the wife and I have an accepted offer on a 2001 460. Want to thank you all in advance for the many questions I'm sure we will have. Survey is next Wednesday for the hull and the Cummings 6CTA's. Wish us luck!
