460 DA Owners Thread

I was recently trying to source a spare AC pump for my boat of similar size & era. Reached out to Sea Ray and got a Dometic Part Number which proved a dead end, but had flow requirement (1000 GPH). Got to looking at the namplate info on my pump (none)/motor(Dayton). Turns out the motor is by Dayton, supplied by Grainger and was discontinued. The tech support folks at Grainger were very helpfull in sourcing an alternative (2ZWR5), although a bit pricey at $800 with Bronze Pump as originally supplied. I didn't purchase yet but thinking at 17+years it might be a good item to have. Just need to run across someone with a better Grainger discount than I get...

The March pump is a 5ac. Make sure you get 240vac.

Did he get the boost and load percent or just the information available on the smartcraft display?

Just to directly answer this question, negative on the boost pressure as I checked. Didn’t show up on the display. :-(. But almost everything else shows (rpm, engine temps, voltage, rpm….. )

I have a Westerbeke generator. The CAT guys were working on an oil leak and know the generator start switch is totally dead. Even if I try on the gen itself. Batter voltage without the charger on shows 13.8 volts. Any ideas?

Jeff check the fuses on the generator and the circuit breaker on the hot wire from the battery.

Attached photos for the Aetna tachometer trim. I had a local machinist do these up in polished aluminum. Photo also of the mounting I used (I kept the old tachometers and did not use the housings). I did not have to extend the wiring it appears.
Previously someone had asked about the dual thruster control. It replaces the standard Vetus bow thruster control. Both thrusters are controlled wirelessly. Stern unit is a SideShift 350 dual motor.

My boat has a 10.0 bdta westerbeke so yours may be different. Fuses are in 2 places. On the side of the start stop panel on the generator itself and under the cover of that panel. The breaker is mounted on the side of the generator platform in the engine room.

jaws:

your helm looks very nice and professional. How did you get the 2 Raymarinw displays to fit? Did you have to do gel coat work? Can you post a pic or two of those?

thanks

Josh,
Here are a couple of shots of the dual screens. Sorry, the pictures aren't good quality. No glass work required.
I believe the change from the 2001 model to 2002 produced a different center pod set-up so two screens can be mounted like this.
After initially trying a panel from F.P., I had Sam at Tecnografic design a new one for me. The screens are Axiom 12 (top) and Axiom Pro 12S (below). I run a RVX1000 sonar module and AR200 plus CAM210 supplies the ClearCruise.

Thanks, but something is off. The Koolair PM1000 has 1/8 HP motor. Mine (and the Grainger replacement) both have a 1/2 HP Motor.

Update:
The Koolair pump is rated 17.2 GPM @ 27 Ft. of Head
The Grainger Pump is rated 38 GPM @ 27 Ft. of Head.

Now we just need to know what pressure drop our boat AC systems have..
17.2 GPM is 1000GPH.

17.2 GPM is 1000GPH.

Correct. However these are centrifugal pumps not positive displacement pumps.

Positive displacement would deliver a constant flow regardless of the resistance (head, backpressure).

Centrifugal pumps operate on a curve. Meaning, if there is less pressure resistance they will provide higher than rated flow or if there is more pressure resistance then lower than rated flow.

Both of these pumps are quoted as 1000 GPH pumps. The flows I indicated for the Koolair vs Grainger were for reference, at equivalent system pressure.

The advantage for the Grainger pump is that it yields the required 17.2 GPM, even if there is more resitance (ie. heat exchangers are much more clogged etc).

Door track upper and lower/ rollers and the slide on the upper part of the door.

Have any of you replace all the cabin door parts?

I know I can find on flounder pounder just wondering if one of you have a complete part list.

Where would I find a picture of the door and its parts?

UPDATE ON THIS:

I talked to FP and they sell the whole door track kit.. its $500.00. Before you order it they need the top track and bottom track length measurement.

I wont be to the boat for a week or so.

Do any of you know these measurements?

If any of you are looking for the polly slide that the top door has that slides over the bottom door they dont sell that. They told me to just buy a piece of polly from home depot and cut to fit.

I just did the whole thing. Works so much better. Make sure you get the rubber bumpers installed all the way back to cushion the door when opened all the way.

Hi guys… I still have The two original fresh water pumps on my boat. I noticed that number one runs all the time now, and number two doesn’t run. I was going to swap them out but I’m just wondering if we really need two of them on the boat. If any of you have swapped these and went down to one let me know if you had any issues. I have checked for leaks and couldn’t find any, also checked for an airlock just to make sure but to no avail.
