Does anyone know if our duckbill valves 1.5" or 2"? I'm looking at the parts manual and can't find this info. Hoses are 1.5", so logically the duckbill valves should be 1.5" as well. But, before ordering I wanted to double check if anyone replaced theirs.

I replaced mine and if I remember correctly they were 2", but it's a different boat.

Jon,

Is it safe to assume that your sanitation hoses are 2", as well then? I'm trying to see if there's a direct "connection" there.

Alex, I'm pretty sure my hoses are 1.5". My duckbills failed during my trip up to New England this year. The marina service man said I needed 1.5" duckbills, I took the system apart and they were 2". Again different boat but not sure if the hoses have anything to do with the pump. The duckbill part number might be on the pump.

Thanks Jon.

I just spoke to Northeast Sanitation and they told me that they're 100% confident that mine should be 1.5", as they indtroduced 2" valves only few years ago. Considering that mine is 2005, they said it's 1.5".

Even though mine work fine, I feel that considering their age, it's a good idea to have them (and the bowl seals) in my spare parts inventory.

Alex

Yours are indeed 1.5". NE Sanitation didn't give you the correct logic though. The 2" duckbills were introduced in 2006 with the VG4 (that's what I now have). I think yours is either a VG2 or 3, both of which use the 1.5" duckbills. Your original logic actually was right, the 1.5" discharge hose from the VG requires the 1.5" duckbills. Hope all is well.

Brian

Thanks Jon.

Thanks for confirming, Brian. Last year I replaced discharge mocerator pump, and from what I recall, even that new pump had 1.5" dockbill valves. It would be nice if this info was included in the SR parts manual.

Another battery question:

Does anyone have the specs on the correct battery for the 2006 44 DB? Owners manual says "check with the dealer". 4 of my batteries were manufactured in 2010, still working OK, but I'm planning to replace in the spring. I currently have: interstate 31p-mhd cca:950 rc:195. Since this was a replacement set by the PO, I want to make sure they are correct. Probably not going to go AGM, due to cost (2 kids still in college :wow:).

Scott, I am not sure, but that part number sounds like cranking batteries. My boat uses deep cycle/cranking batteries for the 4 batteries that are house/helm/starting.
I use Deka Marine Master. I think they are good batteries, but mostly because I get them from a supplier that we use in our business for our battery needs and they give me a screaming deal on them because I decide were we buy our batteries for our fleet. MCA is 810, reserve is 185.
The 2 thruster batteries are straight deep cycle 27's and the generator is a 27 cranking.

Scott,

Mine are the same: interstate 31p-mhd cca:950 rc:195

Moving the VHF Radio:

Not sure if all models have this same problem, but I find the factory installed position of the VHF radio on my boat is terrible. I cannot see it at all from the helm. Here is a picture. Has anyone moved the radio to a more convenient location? With so much open dash space, I was thinking of putting it on the port dash panel (leaving room for a second screen, if I ever get one). I'd move the plug port and the cradle. Has anyone moved theirs and if so, where?

Scott,

Even though my handset was in a different location than yours, one if the first upgrades was adding the 2nd E120 and moving the handset to the port side panel. Easy project, as there should be plenty spare wire bundled in a zip-tie.

Hi ALL, Has anyone replaced the tv in the salon? i am having trouble finding one with the appropriate number of inputs and output for the bose system and the satellite receiver. Does anyone know the model of the bose system? mine is from 2009 model. thanks

So I had only purchased my 42 2005 in Aug 2015. Really on a couple months to play before winter layup. What's with the vhf remote setup? Anyone have a brief user summary ? Both units on.....

I found the largest Samsung that would fit and it also had HDMI for the Blue Ray player, coax for the TV input and RCA jacks for the audio amplifier. I mounted it pretty close to the back panel and needed right angle adapters for most of the plugs. Hope that helps.
