So I picked up this brand-new SC 5000. Well wrapped and looked factory new, just left over from 15+ years ago. Plugged in and it is a great deal better than the old one however there are two green vertical lines on the right side of the displayView attachment 130217 screen. Makes me wonder if that’s not the reason it’s been sitting on the shelf for 15 years. In any event I’ve heard this can be repaired. Anyone with any experience regarding this and/or repairs? Thanks.

Try this guy. Send him the pic. mikeygfly@comcast.net

Have any of you added a grab handle to your tender for boarding from docks. I see a lot of folks doing the "tender tango" or "tender two-step" as the tender moves in all directions under foot. I have not seen any one go in the water but I can see it happening.

I looked at the boarding handle at West Marine and they are kind of big and overkill. Just looking for a vertical shaft with a horizontal leg. Kind of like a walking cane fixed at the bottom. I would like to be able to remove it...kind of like a table support.

Cheers!

I am also running 24 x 27 with a M cup.
Had them tuned this spring but think fuel burn is a little high in the 2100-2400 range

On my 44 sedan with hydraulic swim platform when I just cruise around say between 10-15 knots the swim platform has water pushing up through the the platform openings as water builds up underneath it. I would think this causes drag on the boat and pulls on the platform. I am considering getting some 2 or 3 inch plastic or composite blocks and installing them as spacers between the hydraulic lift arms and the platform to raise the swim deck.
Has anyone else noticed their swim platform dragging in the water when not on plane and has anyone tried adding spacers to raise it?

I get the same at trawler speeds but it’s more the churn that bubbles through the vents in the platform. When on plane it’s clear. I have about 3-4 inches I could raise the platform but not sure that would make a difference.

I typically run at 2230 RPM doing 21 knots with fuel burn around 36 GPH. I only logged the info once. I only glance at the display once and a wile
2270-2280rpm here and 36-38gph depending on trim tabs

From these comments I am assuming that you guys think 2200/2250 rpm a safe number to cruise at?

Cummins will run all day at 75-80% load
If you go to Cummins website and read about there engineering and how they test their motors one of the test is run motor full under load for 1000 hours then tear it down and see what wore and if anything needs to be improved.

Mine is the same but I’m of the opinion it’s not worth adjusting as the churning and water flow over and around the platform at such a slow speed wouldn’t increase drag enough to justify the extra hassle of shimming.

Just to add that mine does the same. When I purchased the boat the swim platform had been adjusted so it was tilted forward - lifting the back edge an inch or two compared to the front. I don't like the look but don't see it when on the boat. I thought of adding the blocks as well but doing so would also mean that it would be a couple inches higher when fully submerged and i don't think I have a lot of extra height to get the dinghy off.

We are mostly at trawler speed and it doesn't seem that it affects the boat in any adverse way ... hence, not high on the list to address.

Newest boat accessory ... Admiral liked it so much we apparently now have a second one for home use

So I recently replaced the float to the aft bilge pump in the ER. Now when i'm on plane the bilge pump stays on. As soon as I drop off plane it goes away. This leads me to think that the little bit of water that collects back there runs back enough to raise the float but not enough to be removed by the pump. Any thoughts on how to correct this? Just a matter of time before i cook the pump from running dry.

First thought was the float is either defective or not the right one for the application - wouldn't have thought that the pitch of the boat would/should be enough to activate the float. Alternatively, get rid of the water in the bilge ;)

Yeah, thats a bit of a sore spot, the water in the bilge. Have been trying. Thinking its the rudder seals. I try to cancel 1 thing per season so I don't drive myself crazy.

Fellas all my AC receptacles quit working and I cannot find what the reason is. In my AC panel I have everything on. Does anyone know if there is a ground fault or another type a breaker located somewhere on the boat thank you
