420/44 DB Owners Club

Changing topic, does anyone know which auto pilot course computer is on a 2005 420 DB? Also, is it located behind helm? I believe my original pilot was ST7001 but was replaced with a ST8001. I won't be down to boat until this weekend and am trying to figure out answer before then.

Thanks Erie,

Battery voltage was with charger off. Then I turned it on again to see if there were any lights to indicate what state it was in.

Thanks for the info Tenacious. I looked at the manual and I will pull the cover off of the DC end to see if I can see the LEDs. It is pretty deceiving to have a guide on the front that looks like the place where the indicators would be. They even address it in the manual.

We are heading out on the boat so I might have a little time to look at it.

Not positive that my 2007 44DB is the same as 2005 but mine had a Raymarine S2G auto pilot and yes it is under the helm

I'm looking for a flag pole similar to the image below. I believe it is the original stainless steel flag pole Sea Ray delivered with their new yachts. It's Sea Ray part # 1190354. I've tried most of the Sea Ray parts suppliers to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A friend of mine got one a few years back by calling his Sea Ray dealer, even though he tried locating online. They found one for him. Sea Ray Customer service might also be able to assist. They guys have helped me a lot over the years. If they dont have they may be able to steer you to who the original mfg. was and you can contact them directly. The number is (865) 971-6250. Follow the prompts. This is Sea Ray Corp. Have your hull number handy. Might work out for you. Good luck.

I just noticed a problem my bow thruster breaker was turned off and when i went to turn it back on it tripped right away I used it last weekend and seemed to be fine. I read on some earlier post that it might be a bad battery cell I'm not sure how old the batteries are I got the boat last year what the best way to test them or could it be the charger ? I'm not sure where its located thanks

Hi Todd, John Bruno here from the BLC. The battery chargers for the mains and the bow thruster are located under the galley steps in front of the washer/dryer. You can get a voltage reading from the bow thruster batteries located under the cockpit hatch on the starboard side. They may have a date stamp on them as well.

No, the 100 / 200 /300 & 400 series are the current models. I replaced my S2G autopilot system with the EV200 series

This replaced the autopilot and controller and I reused my original hydraulic pump. Everything works seamlessly with my Axiom Pro & plus

I purchased the P70R and needed cables thinking I could use my S2G course computer. According to the owner's manual it will work, but I want to hear from Raymarine to confirm, and am currently waiting.

Your system (above) is sweet but about 3 X what I paid for just the P70R head and cables. Should I end up going with the above package, did you simply replace the computer, sensor, and display/head on the bridge and then interface with existing hydraulics? Where did you locate the sensor? Thanks.

Ultraleather source needed.

I recently identified the two ultraleather colors on my boat. One is milkweed - Dinette forward. The salon in Ultraleather Ostrich (texture) Tumbleweed (color). Ostrich Tumbleweed has been discontinued but I am told there may be some out there in a local shop. I called a few places and so far no luck. I need about 2-3 yards to repair a cushion which my sons dog tried to burrow a hole into last week. Does anyone have a line on where I might locate some of this product? Much appreciated.

Greatlakes Skipper used to stock a lot of the SR ultra-leather patterns and colors. Try them.

Here in our area there are a couple of upholstery shops owned by ex Sea Ray employees. One is Mary at MV Upholstery; call (321)749-7136; she has sources for all of that fabric and vinyl's. I had a panel in one of my bridge seats replaced and she did the repair - can't tell it was repaired.

At first I installed new Axiom mfd's and the old auto pilot worked sort of but was clunky so after a bit I just upgraded the auto pilot as well and originally had the ev1sensor under the helm but wasn't quite right so I bought a 15ft near cable and fished it down to where the original sensor was located behind the couch below the electric switch panel and all works great now that it is integrated into the Axiom displays

I have Axioms on a center console and they are great. I have am E125 and an E127 on the big boat which were put installed in 2018 and they still work work great. Autopilot is starting to drive me crazy so I thought it was time. I have the P70R unit and nema cable/connectors, etc. Just need to connect. From what I've read it's an easy set-up. If I do run into issues then I will get the full set-up you have. I did look there when shopping but was hoping to get by with the existing S2G with no additional hardware. I shall soon see. Thanks!

I check Greatlakes and all others. While they have some Ultraleather, none in the color I need.

I called Mary. Nice lady. No dice. I'll need to locate some remnants is someone's back room somewhere. The other color I have in the boat is readily available. The one I need which is in the salon was discontinued a while back. Thanks for the info. Worth a try.

Still Needed: Ultraleather Ostrich Tumbleweed. Anyone?

A big thanks to Tenacious and saopm...

I replaced the batteries out in the middle of Gig Harbor. Our friend picked us up at the dingy dock and drove us over to buy the batteries. We got the batteries back in the tender and I replaced them by happy hour.

We have been on the hook and just today are on shore power. Batteries are cool and thruster works great.

Again, thanks!

So I picked up this brand-new SC 5000. Well wrapped and looked factory new, just left over from 15+ years ago. Plugged in and it is a great deal better than the old one however there are two green vertical lines on the right side of the displayView attachment 130217 screen. Makes me wonder if that’s not the reason it’s been sitting on the shelf for 15 years. In any event I’ve heard this can be repaired. Anyone with any experience regarding this and/or repairs? Thanks.
