I got the rest of the parts for the updated fuel line consisting of the bracket and the bolt with some locktite on it.

I went through my local Freightliner dealer as the parts manager is a neighbor and cuts me a good deal. The install was really easy.

The new fuel line is at the top left of the picture. Not the sexiest project but needed to be done.

I am going to get rid of the Raymarine radar and chartplotters very soon and a bunch of canvas and carpet work. I'll post pictures as that progresses.

Cheers!

I seem to be getting leaks form the aft canopy canvas on the ceiling of the bridge. From what I can tell the water seeps in right around where the support beams contact the canvas. Last season i added duct tape right where the aluminum supports come in contact with the canvas but naturally duct tape is not the best temp solution as it breaks down and leaves a nasty residue when removed. Anyone else experiencing this? I plan to replace the ceiling canvas soon but just trying to get another season or two out of this. Any suggestions? I'm planning to try a water proofing solution on top but not sure what is the best stuff.

I do...it seeps-in along the centre seam and drips a bit when it rains. I have used this sealer with varying degrees of success (depends on how well you get it into the seam, how many repeats you do...it's not an easy spot to get to up top):

Somebody here talked about a seam sealer a while back. I googled it and there are several made just for seams.

I have never used anything but 303 Fabric Guard. There is a following here for the Starbrite product above.

I changed my cutlass bearings with the Strut Pro press.
I opened the box only to find out the wrong size collars were shipped. It was purchased over the winter and I couldn’t find my receipt. I called Strut Pro and talked to Curtis, he looked up my order apologized and told me he would correct the order. Curtis next day shipped the correct collars also included extra parts to fit the wrong size collars telling me to keep all the extra pieces. Excellent service and the tool worked as advertised. It paid for itself on the first job. I would recommend it.

Hi, anyone can share list of zinks for 44 Sedan Bridge. I have changed zinks on the engines and generator takes E-1G 1'' and looking for what plate zink goes on the aft underwater. Shafts take 2'' but wondering if this one is correct or I should put 3/4''https://www.boatzincs.com/dp-612.html. Diver should go under next week and I would like to have it for him ready. Thanks

I'm changing mine this spring, it includes:
Prop shaft: 2" diameter (hesitated on this as some reports are to not have anodes on the prop shaft)
Transom: what's important here is the bolt spacing, which is 5". I'm replacing a 8"x4" with a 12'x6" but only because that is readily available from my local chandlery. They carry a smaller version but the hole spacing doesn't work.
Trim Tabs: 3.5" round

Awesome totally forgot about trim tabs.

In your quote the Trim Tabs are incorrect - it is 3.5" diameter (not teardrop). I've fixed the post.
Any idea if they are singles or doubles like below?

What do you guys do for tool and spare storage?

There are a number of categories:

Mechanics tools

Plumbing stuff

Electrical items

Spares

Clamps

Screws

Etc

Thinking of putting something on the Starboard side just opposite of the ladder. Maybe the spares could be under the little ladder.

Looking forward to the clever ideas!

Cheers!

Bruce I am considering buying some of the stackable pack out boxes that various companies are coming out with. One level would be used for small spares and hardware and then I would have one level for electrical tools and one for a general set of tools. I currently use small tool bags and curse them every time I need to dig to the bottom of the bag to get anything usually drawing back a bloody knuckle! Now that I remodeled the bridge I have easy access to a huge crawl space under the helm which will make a great place for a stacking box system. If I still had the 44 I would absolutley consider stacking them on the electrical disconnect box behind the ER ladder.

I keep things I use often in a large plastic bin on top of the electrical box behind the stair in the bilge. The once in a while spares go down in the “wine cellar” under the galley floor (belts, pumps, clamps etc). Tools I don’t want to rust goes under the port sofa. Sofa bed has been removed so tons of storage there. Small tool bag (which I hate) goes next to the gen. Cleaners, solvents some odds and end tools that don’t rust go under cockpit bench seat.

Thanks CD and Irie,

I have lots of tool bags for house remodeling stuff and they are a black hole. I have started using more of the compartmentalized storage bins for small stuff and it works better. The next step is the larger pack out boxes.

I am going to look at some of the systems. Most of the spares are not needed often, mostly they are for planned issues but even with an unplanned failure, they would not be hard to access.

Today my wife suggested a super strong magnetic strip to hang quickly needed tools on. She has 3 of them. 2 are going in the galley and she thought the extra would be good for a few tools. I could just see an Oh Shit moment when you need a Crescent wrench or a channel lock pliers or screw drive like right the Fuck now!

Cheers!

I've given up on the tool bags and started using these Dewalt stackable tool chests.

They come in several configurations - the top one has two drawers, the bottom has two drawers and the top opens for larger tools. I love it! easy to gab the whole box and move to where I'm working. I store them under the salon stairs. I also picked up a two level compartment fishing box/container for storing hardware, electrical and plumbing parts. The larger spares are in a milk crate sitting on the electrical box behind the ER ladder (held with bungie cords) - it is in my job jar to change this to a stackable container.

This subject makes me laugh
I was working on the boat yesterday and while digging through the bottom of my tool bag I thought this thing has to go.

I like those Tomco. I am off to Home Depot to see what all the different brands have to offer.

On some larger boats with different ER configurations, I have seen stainless steel and plain painted steel "top boxes" that mechanics use. No room for one of those types but I really like the pack out type.

I saw one with some rubber seals. The tools one my 380 were starting to get a haze of surface rust on them.

Mark, I was just trying to find something yesterday in a bag in the back of the truck...what a black hole!

I have started using the smaller storage boxes for screws, drill bits and screw driver tips for mobile stuff for working on the rentals. They work well.

This is a similar idea but on a larger scale.

Cheers!
