420/44 DB Owners Club

The center panels front and rear can be pulled up and attached to the arch plus in the front they added a pocket zipper with a screen above the polycarbonate that I can open to let air in on days like today when it is to cool to open completely.
The 2 front side windows can also be either pulled up or removed.
The gelcoat does shine well since the boat has always been covered and in fresh water and I try to keep it polished.
Do you think you will be done with everything before spring? Your rear deck and teak look amazing.

Might look into PC for mine too then. ka-ching … :-/

I’m hoping for a February completion … 11 months (and 1370 hours) later ! (sad face with tears.)

Did you toss the old aft bridge isenglass?

My aft enclosure is being replaced now, Good idea making it out of three pieces. Will talk to canvas shop tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing
The look of just 3 rear windows and the clarity of the polycarbonate made it worth it. I had to touch the glass to believe it is there.

This forum sure does get quiet when many of you have to put your boat...
Yes, it takes a while to get over the mild depression that sets-in...

Polycarbonate looks great! This is on my project list.

I really like opening side windows. Do you think there is a way to have them open with poly? I guess the sides could be done in eisenglass.

The patterns came with the boat I bought. Assumed that was normal. Chill N is a 2006 model. Did they all not come that way?

The way they did it I can open the front and or rear windows and they attach to the arch or I can open the side windows and the also attach to the arch, but if I want to open front, rear and side windows then I would have to remove the side windows and store them below.

I wish the 06 44DB was a hardtop, then it would be perfect in my opinion. But with the rain , etc. its difficult to see out at the helm. Wishing I had a Hard Top, do not like the the fact in foul weather I cannot see S&^%. Other than this I think the boat is a Cadillac. We may go the way of Cape D in the Carver 506.
We boat alot and sometimes u just cannot wait on foul weather to move on.

Even with the hardtop it's hard to see out the front in the rain. Maybe polycarb would be better. Is RainX an option with polycarb? Maybe wouldn't do much at low speeds.

I have seen a mod with a pane of glass in the middle section with a wiper...

Yep, i want a wiper, heat and air on bridge. My 390MY spoiled me, period!

Just my opinion to much canvas and plastic glass . I want a wiper period and heat and air. However I love my 44 DB period. It will have to be the deal of a life time to buy another at my age.

I've been using wax on my front panels and it does help with the rain. Wiper would be ideal, though. I've looked into it couple years ago, but didn't find anything I liked. So, that project went on the bottom of the list, as I rely on my radar a lot. I've run in the rain at night quite a bit, so during the day it makes it a walk in the park....LOL

AC/Heat on the bridge, is a must have, IMO, especially if you're boating during different seasons. I've run my boat anywhere from 35* to 100*+ and it was only possible due to climate controlled bridge. If you can open all 4 panels, you could deal with it on the hot days. However, if it starts raining, all bets are off. When the temps drop to the uncomfortable level, you just have to have the heating running up there.

$10K (unless you're doing it yourself) investment solves the problem.

Irie,
Do you need the old enclosure for a pattern ?
I can save mine if you need it
Had mine done a few years back in polycarbonate. Absolutely love how they came out. Its a love hate though because I will not let anyone come near them. They are a PIA to clean and I take them down every winter before the shrink wrap guys get there. The canvas shop threw out my old aft enclosure but I wanted to keep it for use during winter storage. I still have the old fronts that I use but the aft is open to the elements. My yard takes about 4 weeks to wrap once we are out of the water. I'm having just a full canvas section made to cover the aft so we'll see how that works out.

I just installed a a new Radar, FLIR and Raymarine Clearcruise for those exact same reasons. Hopefully on those dark rainy nights (or days) it will help me to navigate somewhat safely. Although the FLIR’s performance becomes limited when raining so would my visibility through even a hardtop screen so nothing is perfect I guess.

I had the flir installed also, along with a aft facing camera. We also updated radar and installed a 12” and 9” axiom with a vessel view 7.03. Now if my installer ever gets everything going I will be happy. The cameras, radar works fine. However the installer struggling with engine and generator info. I assume it will be spring now since my boat was winterized last week. We do not have anyone here close that is electronic savy.
