410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

Welcome to Lake St. Clair Captain Brian. Thanks for the input. Hopefully I run across you on the lake next season. I'm hoping that the water level stays high so I can get back into Fisher Bay again next season. This year was the first time that I took the big boat (310) back in there and it has become our favorite spot to raftoff. Fisher is a lot more relaxing and family friendly than Big and Little Moot is. I'll be looking for the Beech House and keep you posted on the name of the new boat if everything goes as planned. I am leaning towards the diesels, but will definitely include a slow putt through a marina or up the Clinton to make sure I don't get any fumes/smoke at an idle. The boat that I'm hoping for is a 97', is there any other secrets that I should know about? Thanks again

Ezsteps, thanks for the welcome, this was our first year on St. Clair and we really enjoyed it! We had a 97 330 Sundancer before the 410 and have absolutely loved the step up. You will no longer have fears of 2-3 foot waves! As far as the gas vs. diesel storm I seemingly stirred up (sorry guys) I will say my old neighbor was not on top of his game when it came to maintaining his powertrain, maybe that's why he had so many issues with smoke. We are looking for more family friendly spots on lake St. Clair so with the high water we will certainly check out Fischer Bay! Keep us up to date on the search! Just as with any purchase this size make sure you get a good survey. So far with ours no big issues just lots of maintenance and little things to keep her in tip top shape!

My 410 with 3126's can poke along at idle all day with no smoke of fumes. Same goes with the generator. injectors were reset at 250 hours......about 500 hours ago and except for annual oil changes, and fuel filters nothing has been done to the beast.
Same here...and Captain Brian I'm literally next door to you at Belle Maer...Tax Holiday.

OK, so here is a totally new question, I am thinking of replacing the old tube TV's in the master and over the fridge, how do you get the TV over the fridge out? The only way I can see to do this is to pull out the fridge? Has anyone successfully done this and if so any tips would be appreciated!

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

I've pulled mine out and the piece you need to remove is the vinyl trim piece above the fridge that runs from the cockpit door to by the coffee maker. Cut the silicone and then use a putty knife to pry it up...it has plastic fasteners that just push in place. I don't think you have to remove the refrigerator to remove the TV. I have a '97 so not sure if this applies to your model.

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

The late Dominic (OSD9) posted how he did it on my (his) '03 410 here on the Forum. I'll try to find it if you can't.

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

I did not have to remove the fridge. You only have to Pry up the black valance around the base of the TV. It is held in with Christmas Trees. I had to remove/break one of the CT to get the TV out, but you really don't need it. There are two screws holding in a wooden base at the front of the TV and then 4 screws holding the TV to the base. You get the 4 screws out after the base/TV combo comes out. Just be careful prying out the black valance. Pretty easy and straight forward.

I didn't have to remove the fridge either. Just pull the valance around the base of the TV off as stated above.

Does anyone know the maximum weight that I can put on the swim platform? I'm considering a dinghy and was looking at a Brig center console that weighs just under 300 lbs. with the motor. I'd probably put this on Nautley davits. Does this sound reasonable... or is 300 lbs. too heavy?

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

You could contact Searay to see what the weight capacity of the swim platform is. Also ask them if it is a solid core or a hollow platform. If it's hollow you will want to rig it a little different to ensure proper support where the brackets will be installed. I have a 1998 400 Dancer that I'm planning on installing Trick Davits.Saw some on the same boat as mine last year and they looked nice. Pays to look around.

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

I have run a 9 foot soft bottom dinghy with a 15 horse Johnson slung up on Burke Davits (no longer available) for years. Have stood on the platform with the dinghy and my 225 lbs. many times with it feeling rock solid!

Hello again guys, well I think it's official (pending sea trial) I'm going to be a 400 Sundancer owner. It's a 99' with the 7.4's, 390hrs. After some thought and because I stumbled across this one, I chose the gas for the convenience (Beacon Cove doesn't have diesel) and I can't believe how clean and little use this one has had. I found it at Belle Maer THJEFF. I have to head off to the place that pays for it now. I will try to get back on and tell a little more about it soon. I was just excited and wanted to update everyone on the search. Have a great day everyone.

My neighbor at Cedar Point might sell his 2000 410DA with 3126's. He has quite a bit into her though, so she won't go cheap. (new canvas, electronics, rub-out/detail, cockpit air)

Well, I got a great boat with brand new canvas, glass, striping, etc. She looks brand new. BUT... she has 8.1 Mercs. Fewer than 200 hours, though. I'm located in Catawba Island, OH.

Pat
I looked for almost a year but found a perfect 2003 and we love it. 3126 CATS and well maintained.
They are out there but are hard to come by. The good ones go quick.
Try to find a broker, sometimes they know of some for sale that are not listed.

Hello Pat, I would call Billy at Platium Yacht Sales. He's in St. Clair Shores. I think he might have a 97' 400 Sundancer with 3116's (super clean, 700ish hours). I know he has 450 Sundancer if you're interested in that. I think the 450 is on there website. I just bought a 99' 400 Sundancer from him with gas. Great experience, I would definitely recommend him.
