410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

We re on the other end of that (5YO and 2YO) so hopefully they like hanging out with us on the boat for a while, they don’t have a choice.

Yeah I've got 3 sleeping onboard every weekend, getting bigger each year. I really want one more Sundancer (bigger, easier to sleep more humans) before I start downsizing. Otherwise the 400/410 is a really great size and layout.

I am happy to have found a 1999 400 Sundancer in outstanding condition. So, one person's selling is another's happy day!

Doing some work on my aft head. Can anyone tell me the size of the hose running from the sump to the drain? I am completely missing the drain assembly, and on another thread someone said the “junior bar sink” drain at Home Depot will work. I just want to be sure I get the right size adapter to go from drain to hose

DOes anyone know what the original raymarine transducer was on a 1999 DA?

Probably a B60 20 Degree version if its a thru hull

I want to say the drains I've bought have always worked without a special fitting. Leads me to believe the hose is going to be 3/4". My luck is 50/50 in being prepared with the proper parts in these situations, for the record :)

Off the top of my head...5/8"? Leave it to SR to pick the only one not readily available at your local hardware store.

Yesterday was warmish and decided to tackle changing the duck bill valves on my vacuflush. Fairly easy removal process with wifes help. Very little "mess". My point here is that when I removed all the old valves they were reversed as in the outside was pulled into the opposite direction. I am thinking that when I did final pump out prior to lay up there was excess vacuum and/or I was trying to hard to get every last drop out. The amazing thing is the system still held vacuum when I ran the anti freeze in the toilet.
Just wandering what other thoughts you guys might have?

For anyone else working on this...1. Junior Bar Drain (Glacier Bay brand) to a 2. 1 1/2" pvc stand pipe to a 3. 1 1/2" 90 degree elbow to a 4. 1 1/2” to 3/4” step down adapter to a 5. 3/4” mpt to 1” barb. The barb is slightly small but the hose clamp makes up for it. No leaks, all happy

Your duckbill valves should all point in the direction of flow (towards the waste tank). If they were inverted, which is very odd, they must have been subjected to some chemical that softened or damaged the rubber. It's just not reasonable that the vacuum that is generated could invert them if in good condition.

Thanks. Must admit I did not study them close but no obvious chemical decomposition. Will check my vent when its warmer but do not think that is a primary cause. I should mention that even with inverted duck bills when I put antifreeze in toilet and flushed I think I still maintained vacuum. My best guess too aggressive with pump out.

Re Pumpout - It would collapse and destroy the holding tank before damaging those duckbill valves. Again, however, the duckbill flow is in the direction of the flow to the tank and obviously direction of the pumpout. Plus you should have a tank saver relief valve on the tank. If you don't then get one installed.

Thanks again for your input. My holding tank drawing indicates relief valve. Will check on next trip to boat. You are right on the flow direction. I wish i had studied the old valves before i took them out. I only have had the boat for a year and i guess previous owner/mechanic could have put them in backwards. Will check what I can and move forward. Thanks again

Good day - purchased a 2000 410 Sundancer last fall. I need to replace all the duckbill valves so I have a good starting point. Can anyone verify that they are 1.5"? Thanks.
Yes, they are 1.5"

If you’ve never done it before, search on here about how to do it. The parts are a little delicate and easily broken/cracked. Everything should be only hand tight, no tools required.

Just did this yesterday. "hand tight"-what does this mean? When everything is brand new and sitting on your desk hand tight may be possible but on your stomach stretching over the engine with a pipe wrench that wants 90degrees to engage hand tight to me is of limited value. IN PRACTICE-tighten them to your best guess for just bottoming, err on the less tight side. Assuming that your vacuum tank is "clean" power up master head breaker and pump will run to build vacuum. Check for leaks. tighten as necessary. Flush probably more leaks-tighten as necessary. "rinse and repeat" as req.
