Is there supposed to be a ignition buzzer that turns off when the generator starts on Westerbeke 7.0 bcgb
Mine is a bit random. 83% of the time there is no buzzer when starting my gen.

I think so-if I remember it may be the same buzzer that the systems monitor on the dash uses. Ours began intermittent then totally out. There is an electronic buzzer thing behind the dash panel-a good electronics store might have something to replace it. I’ve thought the same. Just fear Jan 17th 22F is when it will let go and then what? Can’t be out there messing with it in snow! There’s a neighbor that has a 48/50DA and doesn’t shrink it. Cringe seeing it but he pockets that money every year towards other things!

Hey everyone, it has been awhile since I posted here. Took me over a year to get the oil link on my port engine sorted out. But with the help of some locals, and this thread I finally got her out of the slip. Took one trip to Anacapa, and then spent a few days in Avalon (hence the updated profile image which I have attached here). I know the obligatory Casino shot is not original but for me it is a milestone.
I got terrible mileage on that trip, and could not get the engines over 2700 rpm. Although they did achieve 2800 in the Sea Trial. The big difference I see is the big fat Dinghy I have mounted on the back of the swim platform. So my next outing will be made with a Takacat on the bow. Hopefully that will make s difference.
Aside from that pretty much everything on the boat is working properly. Took a long while to get to this point.

Wow, not that big! It is an Achilles 280 Rib with a 100lb outboard. The thing is I don't know how bad my mileage is yet as I have not refilled the tanks. I'll do a little math once I do. So there is a chance I am wrong, but the fact I couldn't get to 2,800 is a pretty big factor as well.I'd be surprised if your dinghy is making a noticeable impact to your overall performance/mileage.
My numbers are marginally impacted by this 500lb rig on the back of my boat. How big a dinghy are you hauling back there?
Yeah my bottom is cleaned every month, but I was at the extreme end of that cycle. Although the diver told me that my bottom doesn't really get that dirty between cleanings.How bad was the mileage? You really should be propped to your normal load so with the dinghy on the back, you may need to drop a little pitch. A slightly fouled bottom can easily take 100 RPM, though.

Frankly my assessment of my mileage on the Catalina trip is far from scientific so I probably should not put too much weight on it.Lots of good info here in this thread on our boats. I think you should be seeing right around 1-1.2mpg with your setup. I'm something closer to 0.7mpg with gas engines. But again, I don't think you're going to see your dinghy impact your economy. The amount of fuel you're carrying will have a far greater impact...

I filled my tanks before I left, so presumably that is 330ish gallons. The trip is 75 miles each way, but I did take a much longer route back (I went around the back of Catalina and passed right by Santa Barbara Island) which amounted to around 100 miles. So that is, let's say 180 miles. So that is only 55% of my fuel at 1 mpg. Yet both my tanks were reading below 1/4 when I pulled in to my slip. As mentioned I haven't filled them up yet to really calculate how much fuel I actually burned.
The other huge wild card is that ran the gen quite a bit while we were there for 4 days.
So, clearly I need to make a another journey and be a bit more meticulous with measurements.
The margin of error of the fuel gauges is wider than the variables of fuel consumption (unless the vessel is actually on fire).
Don't give this another thought until your next fill-up!
So unfortunately my 2000 410 da didn't come with a factory anchor wash down. I'd like to run a fresh water line from the pump under the floor by the stateroom entryway to the anchor locker. Has anyone added this before? Any suggestions on the best route to take for running the water line? Looks like I can get a line underneath the fwd stateroom bed pretty easy but might be a bit tricky from there.
