410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Done deal. I botched the starboard side a little, it retracts about 3/8” further negative angle than the port. Drives me nuts to look at but I doubt it’ll make much of a difference. depending on the boat Loading they’re rarely even anyway

Actually having it retract a little further will keep it up out of the way.

I’m interested to see what gains in run angle/speed you get.

woah. I would not lift that boat again until you figure out the cause. Can you get to the hull sides from the interior where this is happening? I’d be checking for cracking and wet core in the top deck and around the rub rail

Something’s way wrong. Looking closely, there are several screws in the rub rail that have popped, so you’ve lost structural integrity and waterproofness at that location.

Maybe I am the minority, but aren’t the lift straps usually angled up and away from the boat. In the pic of makin i happen’s boat in the sling, the strap is going straight up touching the rub rail. Could it be a boat is not designed to have 24,000+ pounds of force pushing the rub rail in and up? Just a thought, I obviously could be wrong, but just looking at this from another angle, no pun intended.

Here's how they used to lift my 410DA, and think this is what @Dani-Lu is referring to:

The lift pictured above is Hugh compared to the one lifting mine,. Ballpark my lift is 16ft wide. I can make a 2x2 1/4 box tube or 3in pipe spreader bar to force the straps out from the rails,. Any thoughts?

Did you have to install a second pump and a second set of controls. Can’t wait to hear about the performance. I hope you have some before and after data

no extra pump, Tees right into the existing lines and added maybe 2-3 seconds additional travel time from stop to stop. I have lots of data so I’ll be sure to report back!

I’ll also be carrying about 150# extra on the platform this year with a new dink so the additional lift should really help out. Can’t wait to give it a run, 4 weeks or so up here in western NY

i think that’s a good idea but also can’t wrap my head around the boat flexing like that without an underlying issue.

You might not be comfortable posting the actual document but, what does the survey say regarding Hull side and top deck moisture?

No damage, it went back to the same position. There were no cracks in the top deck or any noticable issues.

I can post it Friday Saturday when I am back home from Texas, but the surveyor made a special note about funny readings, until he sanded down the bottom paint and once against the gel coat it was dry.

Thank you. Hurry up and get those numbers. Maybe I can install this year.

Based on no damage, I am sorry to say, but I agree with others. Boats are meant to flex a little, but not enough to be noticeable by the human eye. I hope I am wrong, but it seems your side hulls are very wet, or were repaired without fixing the structure behind the fiberglass.

You mentioned it being both sides. This is a real head scratcher.

One option you could consider is finding a marina that launches and retrieves using trailers instead of lifts and slings. It's not particularly common but they do exist...

That worked for me for many years. Our club hoist was quite narrow as well.

I will shoot for a trailer, all the information and replies are appropriated.
