410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Looking forward to the weekend here! My boat got pulled yesterday to get the new platform installed. She should be back in the water today, ready to rock. I do hope this install makes me happy. My primary concern is the Hurley extension making the whole thing look weird since it's not centered. Worst case, it should make a fine perch for my morning coffees....

I guess the other question mark is performance. I look forward to sharing with you guys how this gas powered pig does with an extra 400lbs strapped out back...

Looking forward to seeing pics. I hope it performs well for you.

I know you will but please post some pictures of it installed, it's going to be awesome

Looking forward to performance info as well, I suspect it will be minimal

Absolutely, will do. I'm expecting to need a little more tab, a little more often with the dink back there. Worst case I'll throw another 200' of chain in the anchor locker to balance her back out :)

Mount it between the engines and use it as a step to get into the bilge. If you want to dress it up, put a piece of aluminum diamond plate on top of it.

When you have the time, please post pic of water heater installed between engines. Getting rid of the step that covers the AC thru hull valve could be a good improvement. But, how does it effect access to back of engine and checking oil? Does it make it easier to flush the AC’s, and access to AC strainer?

FYI if you go back a page or three you'll find the photo. Riptide was kind enough to share the photos when I replaced mine...

No affect at all. As a matter of fact, I just did my STBD lip seal with no interference from the heater. Check page 181.

I’ve decided to put it back from where it came. Disassembly cohld have been worse. Just pulled the bottom and front and will see if I can get the rest of the case in without removing the back panel. Aluminum rivets came out super easy. It’s well built! The welds look great and I like the insulation all the way around including the bottom.

Also considering that after I saw you mention you did it on yours. We already have a step from the factory but it's actually removed right now so I could get to the forward bilge pump and do some hose replacements. Obviously just have to extend power and water lines but that wouldn't be too difficult
The PO of my boat relocated the tank to the cabinet under the stove in the galley. Looks like a small apartment hot water tank that you can get at Lowes.

I understand how that would make for an easier install, but I would not want to give up that cabinet storage space. And the way those things can leak, keep it in the ER. Just my opinion.

+1. I wonder if that location is technically "allowed" since the hot water heater has a high pressure relief on it. Venting 170+ degree water into the cabinet seems like it might create some problems if that were ever to happen.

Whelp...the deed is done. Platform install complete, Hurley extension in place. All that's left is to add a few padeyes for tiedown this week.

At this point the ONLY complaint I have is color. Swimplatforms.com did a really fantastic job throwing a bit of yellow into their gel to match my boat. Hurley, on the other hand, is BRIGHT white. Like you would expect for brand new. The good news, however, is that I was planning to install the EVA decking on the platform anyway. So this difference in color will be temporary.

The H3O+ is wicked easy to use (with the electric winch). Of course I've only used it twice so far but it was a breeze to launch/retrieve my Walker Bay. With the extension there is a whole lot of room to move around. I'm not 100% in love with the appearance of the offset extension but I think the ease of moving/strapping the dink will make up for it. I've also confirmed a folding chair will fit on the extension...a nice perch.

looks awesome! Get any test runs in to check performance with it back there?

Love the new swim platform. I hear they are running pretty far behind on orders. How long did it take to get yours? How about the install? Something that can be done in 1-2 days? I need a new one and really should just order it now and when it comes have the boat pulled for a day or two for the install.

Thanks! We did not leave the slip this weekend. I can't move with the dinghy on the platform until I mount the padeyes and fully figure out how I'm going to strap that thing down. Securing the dinghy from both sides with it so far aft of the platform edge is proving quite a puzzle.

Thanks! I ordered mine early in December 2020 and received it late February. I was intentionally trying to get ahead of any spring rush of orders. Receiving the platform at home was a huge PITA though...would not recommend :)

I don't have the final invoice yet but I was told it was about 12 hours of total labor. That includes the removal of the old platform. Much of the work is two people but they knocked it out in a day. They pulled my boat 9AM +/- last Wednesday and had it back in the water 24 hours later. Just enough time for the 5200 to dry.

Not the most fun project I’ve ever done but it’s in. I need to run a few more screws through the rivet holes and take the blue film off, then I’ll call it done!

happy to report my fresh water leak saga has finally (hopefully) come to an end. At the end of all of this I have every fitting on the main trunk line replaced as well as a new pressure regulator and hot water heater. Should be good for quite a while
