No one is responding to my questions on Performance.
I must not be welcome into the secret society!

That's it, forecast in western NY is 40+ for the next 10 days - shrink wrap is coming off tomorrow!

Welcome to the secret society, I have gas 7.4's and love them, the performance is good, never a problem getting on plane, great reliability and no smoke or smell (I know I am going to get blistered for that comment). Reliability has been good and they are cheap and easy to work on. They are certainly thirstier than their diesel counterparts, in my opinion if you plan on doing lots of long trips go for the diesels, if that's not in your wheelhouse then gas is fine. I have done long trips up into Lake Huron and Georgian Bay and never had an issue and the fuel bill was tolerable. I have never regretted going with gas.

I have a brand new set of carpets for our boat, gray berber with the rubber backing. I bought them from the previous owner but with seadek down I dont know that we'll ever have a use for them. If anyone is interested PM me

now the real work can begin

First compound pass. I think she’ll come around nicely after about 60 more hours :)

Nice!

The marina wants to launch me this coming Friday. I’m hustling to finish buffing this weekend.

This week will be a lot of after hours work installing the aftercoolers and new cutlass bearings. Can’t wait to be floating again.

Do you have power out in the yard like this or do you have to bring a generator along?

we do have power, lots of poles nearby. They leave the water on all winter too. I really like this yard, all boats are open and no one in front/back of each other so we’re never waiting to launch

I made a bit of a surprising discovery yesterday. My pvc water lines are actually 1/2". I went into the bilge with my new valve/strainer setup, all ready for install, only to find I could not fit the pvc into the 1/2" x 15mm union to save my life. Sure enough, 1/2" all around.

For inquiring minds...1/2" pex is 15.9mm OD. 15mm pvc is...15mm OD.

interesting, is it smaller piping at the faucets? I could swear i replaced a 15mm elbow last year at a sink

Big day, strut rebed and final on the hard alignment (thanks @techmitch) before I really dial in after we’re floating

used an entire tube of 4200 for good measure. Rained down sealant real good as I pressed it in. I chose 4200 because on the off chance I ever have to remove it I don’t want to rip gelcoat out, and the factory uses silicone which lasted 18 years. 4200 should be fine

my alignment is now tight on the bottom half of the coupler and only out by .005 at the top so I should be pretty close and only need minimal adjustment when the season starts
