400DB with diesels, impressions & thoughts

I don't recognize the 47 DB as a bridge boat. It has a bridge... but it also has V-DRIVES and is slow as Greg's boat buying.

It has a bridge and Sea Ray calls it a bridge boat. I guess you could call it a bizarre bridge boat. Rather like a Golden Retriever that doesn't swim.

Best regards,
Frank C

Damn, so now I am buying it? Need to sell Mrs R first.

The cruising speed on the 400DB is OK for us...22 knots if I recall, 22 GPH or less burn, just right.

Got in trouble with the wife.

This peer pressure is great! Come on all the cool kids are buying sedan bridges... Why don't you. Why tell the wife - she will love it. Just surprise her. It's like buying a dozen roses only it last longer. You can't get addicted to a boat.

"You can't get addicted to a boat"

Hmmm...I disagree, respectfully.

Let's revisit this after you have been pushed back in the helm chair as the turbos spool up, the diesels roar (Cummins, Cats, or MANs (shout out to Ryan on Sea:\Drive!)), and 15 tons of Sea Ray lifts her rear end and takes off.

I am personally addicted to that.

Skip

Ditto what Skip said...

My wife and kids are even showing signs of addiction. They have been heading to the boat on Thursday nights, staying until Monday morning and asking if we can put the boat in the water even earlier next Spring (we already put in in mid March!).

Of course, I am a total enabler in this budding addiction.

That sounds good. Too bad that rush is even more expensive than coke.

Best regards,

I just noticed that Frank has 5 balls. Where does it stop?

I concur with Skip and Tim, the boat is absolutely addicting.

No question... anyone ever notice how hard it is to focus on Monday and Fridays when you are really thinking about the boat?

I enjoy every minute on it, it is like taking a vacation every weekend. Like Tim said, my 4 year old can't get enough, and yes I am the enabler as well, but she never wants to leave, even to go out to eat... "Daddy, can't we just stay here and eat"..

Sorry, we have gotten a little off topic for this thread, but what great family and friend time, that most hectic weeks don't allow for...

Thanks for including me there Skip...

As far as the 'cool kids' with Sedan Bridges, I will tell you I was always a Sundancer fan, still am... (I love the 48), but with the kids, I would not go back. For us, where we boat (the sissy part of the bay) and what we like to do, the room in a sedan bridge is perfect.

Not only that, but most importantly, we have small children and when they are tired or too hot, now there is a nice place everyone can hang out, and my wife does not feel like she has been relegated to the dungeon. We all know, when boating is better for our wives, it is better for us! :smt038

As far as the telling the wife, I did not tell my wife when I got the 52... she had seen the boat and had fallen in love with it, but she did not know we bought it. I surprised her and the kids with it... I will always remember the look on their faces. I am not sure I would recommend that course of action for everyone, it is just what works for us.

As for the 400DB - a great boat, do your due diligence as with any boat, and I think you will be thrilled!

Please note - I am not trying to stir up Dancer vs Sedan Bridge wars here, I am just telling how it works for us.

Yeah... If I recall, you said "Sundancers suck" when I was on your boat a few months ago.... You also said "Four Winns suck" but that's another story.

Let's see who takes your bait.... and really if you remeber it was when we were at the goth bar, not on the boat

Only the uninitiated fail to recognize Gary's bait...........the rest of us just ignore his barbs and smile at the number of times he must be checking CSR to see who bit.

It's well documented here that I would have a aboat with an upstairs if the admiral could get over here 'fear' of tipping. I love my 410DA, but I would love the added room and view that the bridge offers. My daughter is now 21, so young kids is no longer an issue for us.

Until the first grand-kid, that is.

I saw a 97 440 express bridge last week, nice unique boat.

I think the express is the one with 3 staterooms, first one to the right as you walk in? It also has the walk thru windshield? We looked at one a few weeks ago. This layout felt tight to us...plus there was really no lounge area for folks to sit and hang out. Plus we do not need 3 staterooms.

Good looking boat though.
