40 sedan bridge forum

I just installed KVH TV1. I mounted the antenna in place of the Glomex using a pedestal mount adapter that KVH sells. I had to make a mounting block cut to an angle to level the antenna. I mounted the TV hub to the access door behind the port sofa. Then used the existing coax to connect the TV Hub to the salon TV. Only tricky part was running the antenna cable through the arch and to the TV Hub.

I plan to move the Glomex to the other side as my stateroom TVs will still use it. I'll post some pictures later.

Hi guys. Wondering what the switch left of the spigot is for. Also why two spigots? The one on the right does not work as far as I can tell.

That switch and the second spigot (the one that doesn't work) are custom. Not factory installs.

Here the compass rose has been added. Next step is to layer on the urethane.

Very nicely done!

On the subject of dinettes, has anyone made any attempt to add a "filler" to the dinette when the table is stowed to create another bunk when needed? Nothing permanent, just to use when another sleeping area is required.

Thanks!

Carpet Cleaning - This worked for us...

Experimented on cleaning the cockpit Berber carpet over the weekend.

We have a real problem with mold growth and constantly deal with wet cockpit carpet due to rain.
Tried various products but nothing really cleaned up the mold. Out of desperation - figuring the carpet was a lost cause anyway - I put bleach in a garden sprayer and sprayed the whole carpet while off the boat. Wasn't certain what the result would be, but it worked like a charm. Carpets almost perfect again.

Hope this helps someone else save some time!

Good luck.

I always wondered why the dinette is removable. So, why would I want to remove and stow it? Am I missing out on a good idea here. ?

Let me start off by saying, I hate these roll up cabinets. Today my roll up door for the stereo got jammed. I tried for an hour with several different implements, with no luck. Finally my only option was to push it out of it's track. Now I can't get it back in. Does anyone have a hack for this? Sorry, the picture is straight in my computer.

I have not, but I have thought about trying to do something there. We've had the boat for 2 months and already the kids are talking about bringing friends for sleepovers on the boat. This seems like a perfect location for a little one to sleep, if there was a filler and a cushion there. Please let me know if you come across something, and I'll do the same.

Sorry, I have doors in that location.

Great question, it seems to beg for a conversion to a sleeper, but other posts I've read seem to indicate that it isn't the factory intent for the dinette to be a sleeper. Somewhere I believe I read that there was concern of people possibly falling off in that situation, no guard rail, etc.

To convert to a bunk on an as needed basis will probably require the fabrication of some type of insert. Something that is sectionable and easy to stow. Any ideas are appreciated.

Will do. Looking for ideas since it seems an obvious use of the space when needed...

Hi all. I'm new to the forum. Purchased a 1997 400 sedan with the 300hp cats about a month ago. Since then it's been a learning experience and this forum has been a great resource. Thanks to all and glad to join the community of 400 owners. We love the boat and are so happy with our choice. Ok on to my question. We have two 30 amp power lines which run to a splitter on the dock. I'm thinking I should have a splitter in the trunk and use one power cord. Thoughts?

I don't know why the dinette couldn't be converted to a sleeper. It's done all the time on the Cave Boats (Sundancers!). They have a wood strip that's fastened to the front of each of the bench seats, a piece of 1x2 would work. Then the table is pulled up, the leg removed from it, and the table lowered onto the pieces of 1x2. The cushions from around the back of the dinette are then put on top of the table. Presto, a sleeper for two kids.

A question for clarification. On the dock are you using 2 30 amps split down to one line, or is it 2 30 amps from the boat split to one 30 amp on the dock? You will use more power than comes from 1 30 amp on the dock. Others may disagree. I have 2 30 amp cords from my boat combined into a single 50 amp plug for the dock.

Regarding the direct galley sink drain mod. Any chance the drain could be T connection to the sump discharge line to avoid a new thru-hull? Would probably need to add a loop to the discharge to avoid flow back. I may look into this

Just a guess but since you have a switch and spigot...Id guess the boat has a raw water wash down pump installed.
