40 sedan bridge forum

In the context of bridge clearance, how high is the 400 from from the waterline?

In general terms I use 18' for clearance. I have a hinge on my radar and can squeeze under lower, but I do try avoid those situations when possible.

Are you dropping anthing at that 18' mark? Tallest point is the VHF, I assume.

Yes, the vhf is the tallest point, no I am not folding anything at 18'. I do go slow and keep a close on eye things (especially if there are wakes/waves of any kind).

Hey guys, how are you all setting up trackvision? I started a thread asking about a dual mount, and from the lack of response, I guess its safe to assume it's not a popular option. I'd like to add a M3 to a 400db. What is the good and bad?

Does anybody have issues mounting to the radar arch off to the side?

Mine is not ideal, it's off the starboard side of my radar mast, down on the arch. The mast and the canvas can cause some interference. In ten years it has only affected us a handful of times.

Put the deposit and sea trial is next week. Fingers crossed. Hopefully just a formality being HO Penn was there and went over the motors for Marine Max and everything seems kosher. Anything that I should look out for that everyone sees as a problem? Its a 2000 w 3116's.
Barring any hiccups I should take delivery on the 10th

Be sure to stop at the fuel dock and put a couple of bucks in each side tank. Have someone in the bilge to make sure the fuel fill hoses are not leaking at the bends.

Check maintenance records for last time heat exchanger and coolers (do 3116s have turbo aftercoolers?) were last cleaned. If not recent or no records exist, budget to have them cleaned as one of your first ownership tasks.

I concur with 18 feet, but if you should need a little more, lowering the VHF and the anchor light mast gets us to 16'-10", removing the radar mast got us to 15'-5'' at the top of the canvas to get under a 15'-8" bridge on the Erie canal when we brought her home from purchase.

Paul,

I took this picture while I was in Florida last March of this radar/satellite mast because I was thinking of using something like it for my boat. I could not see a manufacturer name on it, but in some online research I did, I found www.nauticalcreations.com. They seem to make some products similar to the mount in the picture. It may be a place to start. For what it is worth, my open array radar is centered on the arch with my satellite dome on the starboard side directly on the arch as well. There is only about 3” between the radar array and the dome, but I have not had any problems with radar signal or satellite reception. (sorry if the picture is sideways)

Looks like a seaview mount with light bar to me. http://www.seaviewglobal.com/en/categories

I like the look of a dual mount, having a symmetric balance, but have yet to see one on a 40 Sedan Bridge?? If you look back in this thread at a profile pick (my3sons, sr400db, etc. ) the mount is forward leaning. Seaview and several other manufacturers stock only aft leaning, similar to what you have posted.

I know my seaview is forward leaning, although not as elaborate as the one in the photo. May just have to look a little further on their site.

Have a 2001 SR 400 SB and I want to replace the aft cockpit ice maker with a refrigerator. Any hints as to what will fit with minimal alterations? Any surprises to watch out for? Pics of the finished product?

There is a fridge in that spot on my 01 400DB. Its an Isotherm. I'll get the part number off it tomorrow.

Unfortunately the only option with Seaview is to go custom. I've been through the site, and confirmed with a call. Once I have the opportunity, I'll measure the existing stand and send out to quote. I'm really half tempted to try and retrofit a mount on a mount....or practice up on my AL welding and make one - LOL

Do a google search on this site. I remember reading a post with part numbers and dimentions of the Isotherm, come to think of it it was this thread.

Isotherm model number is 1104902. It's dual 110v/12v.
