And here is the stateroom TV. He made up a wood plate that attaches to the back and also has a filler strip for the extra space below (I may cut that off and put the DVD player there - right now as you can see its just sitting on the messy compartment). Then he just mounted two hinges to hold the TV to the front edge of the compartment. He also used another one of those same clips to secure it closed.

Thanks for posting! My doghouse in the salon is different but this gives me some good ideas. How big is your salon TV?

It is real teak and holly. I have a buddy in the home remodeling business and he has two carpenters that work for him that did the work. They made templates out of 1/4" ply and then ripped teak planks to 1/4" and glued them together in their shop. They then basically brought them down and glued them to the floor in the boat. After they were installed, we had a finisher come in and stain/seal them. They look awesome! They also built the TV cabinets and laminated some of the cabinets. They are craftsman!

Since reflooring your salon, have you noticed an increase in engine noise level from replacing the carpeting with hardwood. Has anybody else done this and noticed an increase?

We replaced hardwood for hardwood. I think ours has always been on the loud side, but haven't been in a carpeted salon.

With two hatches that open and four handles, I can't imagine how solid surface flooring in the salon would work. I'd love to see pictures of one of these boats with hardwood salon.

They did great work, looks fantastic!

Hey guys, how are you all setting up trackvision? I started a thread asking about a dual mount, and from the lack of response, I guess its safe to assume it's not a popular option. I'd like to add a M3 to a 400db. What is the good and bad?

I know it's late to ask since I already own (or at least the bank does) a 400DB, but is this boat susceptible to a lot of motion? We have only had it for the winter. We seem to bounce a lot.

I heard the water in here was just fine. So I went ahead and put a deposit on a 2000 400db with 3116 cats. About 450 hours on them. Moving up from my 89 340 dancer. Sea trial this week. Hopefully all will go well. Knock on teak. Oh wait, our boats don't have teak and I'll never have to sand and stain again!

Mjmason, not sure about the bounce you are referring to, perhaps side to side rocking? Ours has been great for us - no bouncing.

Keith the cop, congrats! We have absolutely loved ours and the 3116s have been solid.

SR400DB, I would be interested in seeing some more pictures of your dinghy davit/cradle if you have any. I am trying to come up with something for my 9' rib that will get it up far enough to avoid the wake when coming to a stop. I am considering modifying the "Dom's Davits" that I made for the 360, but obviously need to build them up because of our low platforms. A couple of questions if you wouldn't mind: Do you find yours to be high enough to avoid that wake that pours over the platform when coming off plane? How do you get your whaler onto the cradle? how much beyond the platform does it hang when secured? Thanks in advance.

I have modified the cradle a bit for the dinghy. You are correct, it is difficult to find something that will be clear of the backwash when underway on our platform. You can see the front of the dinghy rides higher than the stern. The increase in height made it just high enough to not be under water at the outside edge. I believe I raised the entire cradle 9" in the front and 3" in the stern. The center of the whaler (midline) is just beyond the outer edge of the platform. I originally had a RIB, but hated it for a couple of reasons. The width made the platform difficult to use and then the weight. My Avon RIB weighed 135 pounds (9'6"). My whaler weighs 140 pounds, but I gained less beam and therefore easier access to the platform. Generally my wife and I cruise together and the two of use can lift boat pretty easily. I generally remove the outboard to make life a bit easier, but not always.

My davit is the early version of this company: http://www.yachtsofstuff.com/userPostings.asp?xID=yachtsofstuff&cexs=ocmar1, but then I of course "made it better".

Here are some photos:

The stainless angle was another "cool mod" by myself. I did not like the point load the track arms put on the platform so I built those pieces to help distribute the load. The tie down brackets were also another self made addition.

SR, I have drawn up a centerline of about 5" behind the platform, sounds about where yours is. Mine is higher, maybe I will lower it a bit. This has given me some ideas and reinforced a few I already had, Thanks for the info and photos, I like the anchors you added, good stuff.
