Does anyone have a photo of the battery terminal cabel connections. The battery caps are under the cables and difficult to remove. It seems that maybe the PO got things switched. Thanks.

Thanks my3sons. It looks like you may have a different cable configuration. My boat is a 98. I have two red and two black cables. Each with two terminal connectors. Would it matter if the black and red were crossed between the engines? I am thinking the blacks should all be common.

I have the same. Maybe the bigger picture it will show it better, wasn’t really sure what you wanted to see the first time.
Pair on the left is the port engine starting bank. The ground from that pair grounds to the port engine block.
The pair on the right is house and starboard starting and the ground goes to the starboard engine block. The engines are also tied together with a ground cable and a cable from each engine runs to the main DC circuit box.
Sorry pics are sideways, just took them with a cell phone and don’t feel like editing them to rotate

Thanks. I'll take a look next weekend when I'm back on the boat. The routing if the cables seems wrong to me. The last set of pictures helps a lot.

I made a trip across Lake Michigan this weekend for a CSR rendezvous. Along the way I had the forward "Emergency Base Pump" go off a few times for maybe 10 seconds.

What is the "Emergency Base Pump"? And where is it located?

It's the cabin sump pump to collect any leaking water forward of engine room bulkhead. To access, lift up starboard bunk in guest stateroom and pull up the aft access panel. Usually water collects there from a freshwater plumbing leak, or from the shower sump box overflowing because it's pump/switch has failed. Can also be from ac catch pan drain getting clogged (both ac units drain into the shower sump box) and the pan overflowing. By the way the word "base" says "bilge" on my readout.

"bilge" pump maybe?
Guessing it's the one under the 2nd stateroom inside bed. All the way back next to the engine room bulkhead.

post #1337 of this thread will avoid the mess under the bed if the shower sump is the culprit.

Makes sense. I think my forward AC pan overflows and doesn't drain into the shower box. Had some water in the floor compartment in the guest stateroom. Drained it out but might have missed some. I haven't used the guest shower at all this year and the shower box is working fine using the main berth shower - no water in that shower box compartment.

Interesting Mark that your port and starboard battery pairs are 180 degrees opposed. Mine aren't like that. Both my pairs are identically aligned with the ground terminals forward of the + terminals

Bill, my orientation is the same as yours. 2001

That is a good question. I'm thinking it is the high water pump under the genny

Ah but on the LED panel it is located just under the Forward Bilge LED at the top of the panel.

try some Pan-Treat, I've been using them for a while, seem to perform as advertised.

Don't know...I haven't changed them. Both Positives come to the battery area together and both negatives go down the same rabbit hole and branch off to each engine. Maybe they changed it for some reason late in the model production or my Sea Ray assembly guy didn't get the memo.

Since you have the only 2004 ever built, everything had probably already been archived and they built yours from memory.

Does anyone have a best source tip for Westerbeke parts. A friend with a 400 SD needs a new governor. He was going to order one from the local distributor but thought Id post the question and possibly save him a few bucks. I've not had to source Westerbeke parts myself.
Thanks
