I have a new ice maker coming that will fit on the rear deck where my freezer (non ice maker) used to be. The freezer finally gave it up. I think the install is going to be relatively simple and I will only have to find a pressure line to tap into for a water supply. Anybody have any suggestions of where I should tap the water line? Does anybody have an ice maker back there and if you do.....where is it tapped? Any help is appreciated.

Keith

On my year, the factory installed tap with a valve is in the engine room right next to the hose spigot above the starboard transmission. My boat did not come with an ice maker, but the tap with the closed valve is still there.

Yup. Same with mine. The ice maker water line runs from that valve above the stbd engine, on the "ceiling" of the bilge, over to the port side, and up into the space under the stairs.

I'm considering to put a sea Doo spark, about 450 pounds dry weight, on my swim platform. Does anyone know what the rated weight for the platform is? Some pics and input from somebody with a jet sky on the swim platform would be fantastic.
Cheers

Do you have a hydrolic platform? Everything I read talks against adding more weight to an already stern heavy boat.

I would not add the extra weight. The platform is not designed for not. You will want to consider structural enhancements if you do.

Deleted - no value add. Sorry about that.

Juergen, I carry my RIB on the platform which weighs about half of what you are talking about. Then I throw folding chairs, shore power cords, water hoses, etc in there because it’s convenient, so maybe 300 pounds tops. I figure when the admiral and I are standing on the platform there is all of that plus a few pounds so I don’t worry about it. But 450 pounds is gettingup to where you should ask sea ray about it if no one here knows what it is rated for. No doubt our boats are arse end heavy, and I keep that in mind when loading it for long trips, but I look at it this way, if you keep the watertank at ½ or less (500 pounds) and the fact that you have gassers, (2000 pounds less than me) your still going to be lighter than me on the stern by a good margin.
FWIW, when we were shopping for this boat, we looked at an ’01 that the owner carried a Sea Doo on in a freedom lift. That thing hung out the back like I thought you got to be kidding me. He said it handled it fine. Maybe it did, the cabinets were delaminating so I never found out.
A bigger problem may be that the platforms are so low that just putting a cradle on the platform and strapping down a jet ski may want to lift the platform if you come off plane and the wake rolls a foot high over the platform. I carry my rib 15" above the platform because of that, I could carry it a little lower, but not much

Hello everyone, We are considering moving to the 400. Is there any common issues that I should look into when viewing prospective boats. What are the pro's and con's with having the lower helm verse no lower hem.

Any input is appreciated.

Hi Mark, thanks a lot for your great inputs. Do you mind posting a pic with your RIB on the swim platform?

Not at all, here's a couple, I get it up there with a 4 part block and tackle hung from the bridge, lanyard with hook can be seen in first photo hanging from bridge..

Thanks a lot Mark. The pics look great. That's something to consider. I have already a 10 foot RIB and I may just get a 10hp engine and call it a day. Your boat sits much lower as mine. I have still about 5-6 inches clearance between the water and the far lower edge of the swim platform with all tanks about half full…

Yep, gassers sit higher. plus those pics were when we were on a 3 month trip up north. I had a lot of stuff I don't normally carry when local like spare props, a shaft, seawater pump, we were really heavy. Normally the exhaust port is about 1inch above the water with full tanks, when on long trips, water about 1/4 way into the port.

Anyone knows where can I buy the control box for the windlass Lofrans progress 1, yesterday I was pulling up the anchor and the windlass only work down, when I press the swicht up I only hear a click from the solenoid but engine does not pull up, I had to pull up the anchor by hand and using the windlass tool.
Here is a picture of the part I want to replace . Windlass Control Box.

i just found it at defender.com exactly the same model and part number at a very good price $134.99 , at West Marine it was like $199.99

just waiting to get the part, replace it, and see if windlass run up the anchor, apparently this is a very common problem, as i searched on CSR, several people had the exactly same issue.

So, Friday night my dog decided to run through the screen door. While he bent the crap out of it, I was able to straighten it out. Of course, to get the screen out you have to remove both doors. When I took the doors off, I noticed a beautiful large opening. Has anyone removed their sliders and replaced the with bi-folds?

I have changed my screen with the doors still in. It takes two people and about fifteen minutes. Interesting thought on changing out the doors. My concern would be the pounding an aftermarket door would take when running. The factory doors are about as tough as they come and I am not sure the quality in an aftermarket would hold up. Just my thoughts.....

I started the process of replacing this starboard exhaust hose today. To make access to crawl in there I did all the following:

Remove reverso drain hose
Disconnect, cap and move out of the way both freshwater supply lines
Remove generator exhaust hose at bottom of muffler and move hose out of the way.
Unscrew muffler from floor and prop up out of the way (I left the top exhaust hose connected).

I still plan to remove generator battery and possibly the inward fresh water pump. I will get a picture posted as soon as I figure out why Tapatalk is not letting me. Will let you know how the hose replacement part goes.

Bill - when I re sealed the underwater exhaust elbow, I removed only the genny exhaust hose & battery. I worked from the elbow first, forward up to the muffler. It all came apart wit some grunt. Good luck on the shower head to muffler hose. That looks problematic to me.
