Doesn't look like a sub. Looks like a standard 5-1/4 or 6-1/2 speaker?
Looks like an 8.8 Coax. Bet it sounds great. I have 7.7's back there and am very happy with them.

Looks great! Interesting spot to put an extra sub in the cockpit! Hmmmm....:)
Thank you! It was a big project all by myself but I’m glad I got it all done. I just need to do the swim platform. I have JL 8.8’s for all the speakers besides the sub on the bridge. I care about the quality of the sound and JL delivers!! In the past year I put all new electronics on the boat too! I’m trying to see if I want to put new flooring down or just relax on the projects. Haha

Agree 6.5 older series. I put an old 12" sub box with a new waterproof 12" in my icemaker cockpit, just to see if I should make something more permanent. I am on a mooring so I never use the ice maker, plus I don't trust that ice except for putting in a cooler. I also keep extra power lines, hoses, and a little Ryobi pressure washer in there. Anyways- The bass that sucker puts out being in a sealed box?! forget about it. plus being in that compartment helps you feel it throughout the boat both inside and out. huge difference a sealed box VS a free air. astronomical. I may custom build a box or maybe even gel coat the current one as it does the job. It is strapped down and set in place already...

Did the same with a 10.5” sub. It kicks pretty well - so much that I had to tune it down pretty far. It’s probably out of balance, power wise, with the rest of the system but I like it. And love the space!

Do you guy see a noticeable uptick in engine temps this time or year? Nothing out of the ordinary, just an uptick?

Funny that you ask. My last 2 trips my temps rose from 160 all year to 165-167 ish or a hair more on my gauges
I changed my impellers in the spring and also checked my strainers and also chalked it up to warmer ambient and water temps.

I'm running 160 unless she is pinned, then she will climb. But she does that all year. I'm balancing at 160 with water temps around 76...

today my port was solid 160. My Sb always reads a shade higher at the helm, say 165. And it’s usually solid. Today it started creeping. Got to prob 170-175 while cruising. Never hit 180. I got to a slow channel and at 6 mph the temp immediately dropped to 160. Once I came out and got on plane again, it slowly rose to 175ish again. I kept my RPM’s lower (2000-2100) just in case but it never rose above that. After getting to the dock I pulled the strainers. Both had remnants of jelly fish in them. Love this time of year. The Sb had about 1-2” deep clump of jelly, the port had less. I’m thinking when the RPM’s rose, perhaps so did the jelly’s and restricted water flow a bit. By stepson is a mechanic and we may pull the impeller tomorrow (thank god it’s the SB side) just to see if it’s ok too.

by the way, the water temp in the Bay was 90 degrees. Seriously.

3 bolts will tell you. easy peasy. check for restrictions up the line inn case an old impeller left ruminant's...

finally switched out the beam vacuum fixtures. 10 bucks a pop on ebay. hadto remove the dang couch because the hydraulic piston on the engine hatch popped off. what a pain that is...

Impeller checked. Looked quite good. I’ll replace them before next season though. I’ll find out tomorrow on my cruise home if it was the jellies...

Has anyone figured out a good solution for a ladder to get into the engine room of a 2000 era 400DB?

Look back about 5 to 10 pages. there was a cool design someone came up with.

This is the 2003 400DB spec sheet. Always wondered what it meant. It’s not on the 2000 spec sheet. Maybe an ‘03 owner can explain it.
