38 DA Gas or Diesel

Dom,

re: bankruptcy. YES, they over-extended themselves. Needlessly. They bought into a several costly myths and made several poor decisions, including overloading their engines and thinking that low hours was a good thing on a used boat, etc etc.

I should have said that the diesel 380 purchases were "6 months ago" - fall, if I remember correctly, and yes, I'd seen the same boats in gas sell here for nearly the same amount.

I've been boat shopping for as long as I can remember. It's a sickness really. Trust me: market preferences are HIGHLY regional.

Gee

I really feel left out today. Sure wish I was part of the leisure-time crowd and not at work having to slave away generating billable hours. Not that you big boat diesel clique know about that work thing while you stomp over the poor gas boat proletariat. I spit on your racors!

But you want to be and that's all that matters.

Gary can I play here or do I have to go back to the sport boat section too.:smt043:lol:

Sorry I could not help myself.:smt021 :smt100 Great topic.

Now back to our regular scheduled topic.

Gosh...left work and this was on about page 4 or 5...check back in ....page 9. This thread has about as much activity as everyones favorite beer:lol::lol:

Ok...back to the gas v. diesel debate....

Ok, someone sell me their diesel 380 AC. It better be mint, priced less than gassers, low hours, and a fridge full of beer, and take a 280 trade. I have 1 month to lock in my slip size.

Frank- you didn't miss a thing except learning to avoid BIH this summer! For some reason, I don't think either of us would fit in with the crowd that seems headed that way.

Anyway, I've been un-invited because I own a boat with diesel engines that I bought with money I eraned while climbing all over the little guy.

I sure am ready for spring to come so we can get back to fixing boats...............

Again, I'm not looking for a fight. The way the world works is what it is. I wouldn't make too much fun of Obama as he is the only candidate that will set things straight and he will be our next President. This is not the place to discuss politics.

Nice little drive by troll there. State your opinion as if it were fact, then dismiss any further discussion. You really are a piece of work.

The only point I was trying to make was people shouldn't be beat up because they like to have a gas boat. Putting a diesel in a Sea Ray is like putting a 60 inch plasma in a mobile home. Sea Rays are party boats and not meant for bermuda crossings.

You have no idea what you are talking about. I run a gas boat, and have friends that run diesels. Above a certain size (39-40') gas simply does not make sense. Also, we did not buy our Sea Ray as a "party boat". We bought her to cruise on, which we've done up and down the bay. While our "little 32' gas boat" does fine for the most part, a larger (40+) boat would better be able to handle some of the conditions we're run into on the water. It would also be cheaper to run point to point. We are looking to upsize in the next few years - the only thing holding us back right now is the desire to increase our nest egg and have a better handle on our boy's college plans.

CJ,
Mr. Click's daddy caught him on the computer (again!) and told him to go do his homework.
Chastened, he is off now to find dead people (are those goths?) and illegal immigrants to sign up to vote for B-Rock Hussein Obama, who, I might add, is preferred by Al Quaeda 10-1 over those seeking to actually defend the nation.

This is truly a great country.

And now, back to spring commissioning planning here on my big diesel boat ownin' plantation.

"Belvedere! Come heah, and fetch me my Cummmins Owner's Manuals! Thar's diesel to burn!

Nice 320DA, BTW. She sure looks familiar. Oh wait, we diesel boat snobs don't engage with the sans culottes. Never mind.

Skip...you really need to get your post count up a bit...I love reading your writings!!!

Skip,

I thought you were TOO BUSY AT WORK to keep up with the idle ramblings of us diesel boat guys, most of whom purchased their boats because they spent a lot of years WORKING FOR A LIVING.

Dom,
Steppin' on the little dudes and going to night school to get my big diesel boat ownin' snob PhD is really taking up my time.

All seriousness aside, have been working 60-65 hours per week since Thanksgiving and that has put a dent in my hobby time. Trying to spend time with the family as a priority. I did get my wife and the kids to the local SR dealer to look at an '07 52 DB with MANs (Thank you Rudolf Diesel-Oh, thank You!!)....and only $1.3M sail away (BUT-the dealer will fill the fuel bunkers--now how cool is that!!)

I ought to be able to cash in a few of my life's lottery tickets to pick up that big girl!

Looking forward to BiH..are you in charge of banning the small and insignificant gas boaters or is that the responsibility of the most reverent exalted imperial director of Diesel Boat Snobs, Inc? I've forgotten the plan, clearly.

Sensei,
You need to go back and read all of Mr. Click's posts--he has clearly achieved a zen-like state of total consciousness.
He gets it.
He really, really gets it.
Guys like you and me, we didn't work our butts off for 25 or more years to afford these big diesel boats (bought used, of course)...we subjugated the working class by jumping in front of their gas boat owning butts in the 7-Eleven line to buy Life's Lottery Tickets (and a jumbo frickin' slurpee, of course) from that nice fellow behind the counter from Indiastan!

I am now racked with guilt.

Once the tears on my keyboard dry I am going to develop a website--"Source Click for Vice President"...I hope you will join me and make a small campaign donation from your personal Life's Lottery Winnings....
"B-Rock Hussein Obama and Source Click in '08...
"Osama LOVES Obama!"
"Preferred by Jihadists EVERYWHERE-and coming to a local mall near you!

It is time for hope! A diesel boat in every Slip! Come on! Who is with me!! Forward! Victory!

Or not.

The great thing about CSR is that registration does not compel us to suffer fools gladly.

And now, back to my spring diesel boat commissioning planning. I will e-mail you with my big snobby diesel preparation questions so I don't offend the future Vice President.

regards

Somebody get a me a Churchill sized cigar and glass of fine port wine....Now THAT's the kind of "Skip like" postings I'm talkin' bout.....:smt038

Skip is still adjusting to life on the outside. He's used to that cushy government job. Working for a living is making him cranky.

Skip,

You know that paper bag I told you to put in your ditch bag a couple of years ago......?

Well, open the top and put it to your face covering your nose and mouth...now take several deep breaths..........feel all better?

Now you know...........its for hyperventilation. Its original intent was for canbote and jet ski fury, but this'll work.
