36 Sedan Bridge Owners

Hi all, just received final word from insurance company, they are totaling my boat. Back around Memorial Weekend there was a lightning storm at the marina, caused damage to 8 boats electronics and the marinas gas pumps.

One of the modules on the E-Plex system failed causing it to overheat and melt/burn the plastic module. This filled the cabin with smoke. Insurance fixed all the electronics but couldn't get the smoke odor out. Ended up calling it a total loss since the upholstery work was over $50K. Boat will be sold at auction.

Looking for a new boat this fall or next spring, want to be up and running right away next year.

For my Wife and I on Lake Lanier north of Atlanta GA it is just about the perfect boat. Have been very happy with it though did not realize the "adventures" I had in store with the ePlex system. Wonder how many boats have this? They tell me SeaRay stopped putting it on.

Did you try an ozone generator? They get all sorts of smells out that most conventional ways can not.

Doug

Yes, had two ozone generators for a full week 24x7. They also spent $12K trying to clean everything. Also sent three cushions to a specialist in Chicago to see if they could get the odor out, no luck.

Note - Ozone generators are not boat friendly, they can breakdown the rubber hoses on the motors and in the bilge. A new problem to deal with.

That is crazy. Yeah, everything is a compromise. Fix one thing, break another.

Good luck.

Looking for the add on swim platform on a 36 SB I'm buying next week!! Does anyone know what the real price is for one of these? Thanks !!!

Just check the weight....I heard there were problems with the factory installed ones with weight. I heard it from someone so I do not have first hand knowledge.....Check your warranty too

Wetpaint, are you talking to me? Weight being too heavy???? I just got a price from my dealer and it's right around $5,000 installed. Searay's platform is installed a "step" below the original closer to the water line. I got an aftermarket price from from www.swimplatforms.com $ 2595 plus freight. This model mounts flush with the origianl, a bit higher off of the water when done. Certainly I can install it myself. It's only January, so I have time.......

I went to their website and I did not see 36 sedan bridge as a model that they have available: Did you call them directly? If so ,who did you speak with? I called SeaRay last year and they told me after market swim platforms are not available for my 08 36 sedan bridge ( diesel)

Royal, I emailed them for a price because i didn't see that boat listed either. he responded back very quickly with a photo of their first mock up of one. They are in the process of making a mold to mass produce them. He said they should be available in a month or two for about 2,595.00 plus shipping. Good looking platform and a good price. I spoke with Ron at their factory.

CMG, I'm purchasing the 07 sedan bridge this week, so it will be a while before I do anything on a platform.

BTW, Can't seem to paste the picture he sent me from my IPad so I'll try to do it from my computer tomorrow.

Pat

Here you go.

I'd love to see this as well. I'm very interested at that price. They are made in my town, so it wouldn't cost much to get it to the boat in San Diego. The real question...would I have to pull the boat to install it? If that's the case, a shipyard would have to install it. I'm sure they charge a load to do that. Then there's the haul out, etc. I wonder if it's possible to install it in the slip? Sure would be nice to have the extra real estate. Great place for the dinghy, and would make the existing one usable with the dinghy in the water.

You will have to haul it out. The support brackets are through bolted under the waterline.

My God, does that look nice!!!!!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Just showed my wife pictures, and even she's in. Now, just need to figure out how to do it as economically as possible. Maybe I'll wait for the bottom paint haul out. Any ideas/thoughts on how much a shipyard would charge to install it?

Looks great...I would still be concerned with the additional weight as it stands and very concerned if a dinghy is stored on the platform......Also will it ride differently.......You might have to put an all chain rode for the anchor to counter balance.

Already have the all chain rode, and my dinghy is very light. I'm guessing 175 #'s. 3.5hp motor, and no fiberglass. This one shouldn't be a problem up there, although someday I would like to put a 'real' dinghy up there, and that would have some weight...

Boat i'm buying already has the all chain rode as well and a bow thruster, so hoping that will do the trick.

Searay dealer quoted me 600 - 700 on the factory one for install. This was included in the 5K price. I can't believe it would take more than 4-5 hours with a couple of guys.

The water ingestion issue is a serious concern depending on your boat hull number. It would really suck to have water ingested up into both of your mains....some boats were built to accommodate the extra weight and some were not and are unable to handle the extra weight....well worth the phone call to the excellent folks at Sea Ray Customer Service to see what their take is for your respective boats. Just a thought.
