Mine are in the aft hanging locker on the left side behind the removable back panelWhere are you putting the amp?
If you remove the panel in the back of the aft hanging locker you can see how to route the cable. I would think no more than 8 ft. It’s really pretty short. We need to talk as im trying to decide on new NEMA2000 display and also upgrade to a compatible Fusion stereo. So connecting a new fusion stereo in the factory location, to my new Lowrance via NMEA2000... what’s the wiring path? And how long of a drop cable will I need? Will 15 foot make it from thenstereo to under the helm?
My main thing is a lowrance HDS 9 Gen 2 touch. Got a smoking deal. Installed that this summer as the boat was new.. I was not aware anyone made a nmea 2000 stereo other wise would not have installed this alpine. My main goal was lowrance and a gateway to my merc 8.1s for diagnostics and stuff. I installed a lowrance on my last 35 baja and missed the option for that. So I made sure that’s possible.
So my winter plan is to get the gateway to this nmea 2000 network as well. But short term goal/Xmas is to have stereo addressed and on the network to the lowrance. Then the network is there, working for tunes and easy control of the head unit from a 9inch touchscreen at the helm.., and I can then tie in a new VHF with AIS For barge traffic, and the gateway for engine data as I get them installed over the winter.
But first thing is first. Swap stock amp for the cockpit speakers to a new 4 channel pushing some power to the new wet sounds 6.5s and a wet sounds sub. Which means I need to run a speaker wire from the new amp located at the stereo cabinet to under helm... and if doing that I will be passing the under the helm location and I need to run the nmea drop from stereo to there anyway... mite as well do it at the same time so I am not doubleung my work.... then in a few weeks swapping the fusion in for the alpine will be simple, and instantly plug ito the net workdrop cable.
What are Rims?Well pulled one of the stock amps, replaced with nice 4 channel. Powering the 4 new cock pit wet sounds 6.5s.. still in parallel. So 2 ohm loads, but with a pair sharing 125 rims... they will speak to you!!
The other 2 channels are bridged to a single 10 that won't fit in the cabinet To will experiment with options before cutting hole and mounting free air.
On a side note the panel in my closet the side vinyl is stuck to you do I could not remove panel with out disstroying the vinyl.. we worked around it... got nmea 2000 cable ran to helm as well as sub wire.. so just need new stereo later this Monet for it to be all controlled from the helm.
New amp made huge difference.
Any of you replaced the dash backlighting? I have all LEDs in the gauges and the dimmer works awesome still. But the back lighting is all not working so at night I can’t read what buttons do what... then looking today on flounder pounder they have replacement lighting to work with stock connections.
Anyone tried these? Know what lenght?
