340 SUNDANCER THREAD

Mine looks tighter for some reason.
I think I will do the same as you come fall. The soap trick worked, switch is working again.
Guy next to me has a 99 340, his oil pan rotted away. Hope that doesn't happen to me.

your ER is tighter than mine....you have closed cooling heat exchangers on the front of your engines that i don't have and you also have big block engines which are physically bigger than my small block engines....

glad to hear the soap got your float switch working again...but I still do not see any reason to pull the boat out to work in the bilge.....

good luck...

Does anyone know what is behind/under this seat? Why did they not make this storage?

Hello all. I would like to add a dingy to my boat and was wondering if the platform will be able to hold the extra weight without any added support? It's an early 03 so the platform is not molded.

How much does your dinghy weigh? I have a 90lbs dinghy on a set of Hurley davits on my platform...

We have a Mercury 4 man Hypalon rib dinghy weighing 89lbs on ours and have just bought a new 6HP Tohatsu O/B if that helps.
Also in the process of installing a pulley system to help retrieve it onto the davits as SP is quite away off the water.

I love your aft canvas arrangement how do you manage to attach both a sloping back drop and a camper top at the same time any information or detailed pictures would be greatly appreciated I would like to do something like this on my boat I need the protection from the sun without the camper side curtains.

Thanks
Bob

Bob, it fixes with a zipper. We have two zips attached to the original Bimini. She came with the extended top when we bought it and we bought a new aft curtain for it as the zip attachment was already there. I will try and take a pic to show you next time we go down the boat.

My OEM anchor is a disappointment. Yesterday in 5 feet of water with 99 feet of chain, my anchor dragged in about 25-30 mile hour sustained winds (sand/mud bottom). Has anyone changed their plow anchor to a danforth? if so, what anchor did you buy?

Britlady, My wife plans on making a cover for our dinghy... We have the same captain blue sunbrella you have. I assume you had your cover made in a canvas shop... If not where did you buy it? and do you have a pattern?

thanks

Rod

Rod, we bought the cover from iBoats.com. I don't have the info on hand as am at work but will send to you later. It's an excellent cover made from water repellant material and has a vent pole in it to help with moisture etc., which we are installing next week now we have a new O/B. It's not custom made you just buy it by dinghy size. Only bought it in May and it's far superior to the one we bought before from elsewhere which eventually wore out. Think it was about $200 from memory but will let you know. It's well worth it IMHO.

Bob, the following pics show how the aft curtain fastens on the inside:

I think the original owner took the aft Bimini top to a canvas shop. He had the extended Bimini top made which attaches by zip along with the mounts. Hope that helps.

Rod, finally found the bill for the cover. Bought from iBoats.com but it was shipped by Carver Industries of SC. It is a Supreme Aqua Shield cover # 7INF9BS, color is Admiral Navy. It cost $190.99 and I added the vented support pole for $25.99 and storage bag for $10.99. Total $227.97 which is not too bad. it is pretty good quality. Hope that helps. Brenda

Thanks Brenda, Sunbrella cost about $45 a yard, so the price is not bad... I will pass on the information to my Admiral...

Just bought a 05 and we love it but this Raymarine all new to me. I'm used to Garmin. My problem is I bought a new Navionics card for it and it doesn't recognize it or it like nothing is in the slot. All I get is a generic map. Any thoughts.

I have 2005 340 with 8.1S Horizons and four blade props. One was slightly bent so took both to Wilmington Propeller. They said the starboard side has less pitch than the port. In reading some of this thread, and there is is lot, I saw others have mentioned this as well.
I also notice when the RPM is synced, the starboard side uses about 1-2gph leass than port at say 3500rpm. When starboard rpm is increased by about 100rpm, the gph is equal. In the case dissimilar props, should one sync the rpm or gph?
