340 SUNDANCER THREAD

Re: 340 SUNDANCER THREAD: 2002 340 Sundancer "forward bilge pump"???

Thanks, well, it's not the cover as it hasn't rained much (fortunately) in weeks. Drained most of my fresh water but will check again today to see if the carpet is still soaked. In the aft cabin, facing the stern, carpet is soaked from the forward bilge pump area to the port side bunk area. The mystery continues....

Does anyone know where the central vacuum cleaner canister is located? I want to change the canister bag/filter but can't find the darn thing......anyone??

It is right under the aft cushion in your settee (right behind the hose connection). If you have the sofa arrangement, the cushion
is tough to remove (twist, cuss, and pull), but it does come out. I ordered new filters from centralvacuumstores.com - my replacements were Central Vacuum Beam 110041.

Might be a little different in the 2004, but it should be right behind the hose inlet...

I had a similar problem (although the carpet did not get wet) with the forward bilge getting water. I replaced the check valve (keep the water from traveling back into the bilge). This solved the problem. My guess is water is coming in from the exit hole and draining into the bilge. If the check value isn't working it fills the bilge. The AC drains into the bilge in front of the settee. This is also the pump for the shower.

I have a 2003 and it is in the cupboard, on the port side, in the aft cabin. There is a lid you can pick up there and the canister is inside it. Only accessed it once, to change the bag.

Re: 340 SUNDANCER THREAD: 2002 340 Sundancer "forward bilge pump"???

Hi i just bought a 2002 340da, with 8.1,s FIRST THE VAC CANISTER IS UNDER THE MAIN CABIN LOUNGE in my boat right buy
the hose inlet, I also would like to know if anyone has the vac bag number and were i can order more ???

NEXT !!!!!! HELP !!! Does any one have the rmp/speed spec.s for this boat, I ran it yesterday for the first time, results _full fuel full water .
4 people on board !!! The boat popped on plane quickly/no tabs I was impressed ! Now i was cruising at 3400rpm and the tri data and gps said i was only doing 22mph, It really felt like i was going faster than than, ????? i topped out at 4800 rpm, and was only doing 26mph is that right ??? it didnt feel like i was going that slow and i expectedthe speeds to be more like 26-28 at 32-3400 rpm and top out in the mid to upper thirtys, I thought the proformance was great, not didapoined at all but the numbers ar pusling and i cant find any tech specs on this boat with this power option

Sounds to my like your GPS was reading Knots/hour not MPG That would explain the speed difference.

I ordered my vac bags from centralvacuumstores.com

22 knots (knots, not MPH) at 3400RPM is pretty close to what I do. Adding a couple hundred more RPM really seems to get the boat out of the water, and I'll be in the 26+ know range. But at WOT, I'm closer to 34 knots (at 65GPH+ I might add!). I'm a little sluggish getting out of the hole, so maybe it is a difference in props. But 26 MPH (or knots) at 4,800 RPM seems pretty low to me - something ain't right!

Re: 340 SUNDANCER THREAD: 2002 340 Sundancer "forward bilge pump"???

Your cruising speed should be around 20-24MPH at 3400 RPM depending on seas. Your top end should be 36MPH at WOT depending on seas. We have a 2004 340 and our best fuel milage is at 3250-3300 RPM. As a rule of thumb you should never run the engines for a prolonged time at WOT. Always use WOT minus 1000 RPM as your max. In your case 3800 RPM. You will love that boat.

Just got our new to us 340 last week. Running full tanks of fuel and four people on board ran boat at 3500 rpm's gps at 29.8 on average for 2.5 hr trip.

Re: 340 SUNDANCER THREAD: 2002 340 Sundancer "forward bilge pump"???

Question for this 340 crowed. I have a friend that has a 28ft. We were talking about him moving up. I highly recommended going to the 340. As I told him - when I bought my 270DA had I know, found out that first summer, that I loved boating so much I wouldn't have bought the 27footer. For sure my first boat would have been a 340. Having said all of that his question to me was - what size engines? I am sure he will be looking for something late 1990's to mid 2000's. So your recommendations and why?
Thanks guys. Great boat the 340.

Hi thanks for the INFO on the speeds i whent to the boats this week end and the GPS was set in knots, so my speeds are good

Re: 340 SUNDANCER THREAD: 2002 340 Sundancer "forward bilge pump"???

You will have a hard time finding this boat with anything else but 8.1's and there is a good reason for that. The boat performs extremely well with that power plant and for resale, you wouldn't want any other motors. No matter how much weight I have or how many peole are in my boat, it gets up and goes. Just my 0.2.

Re: 340 SUNDANCER THREAD: 2002 340 Sundancer "forward bilge pump"???

Guys - thanks for the info I will pass it along to my friend.

Just purchased a 340 Sundancer 2004 moving up from a 290 Sundancer 1996. We have kept the smaller boat on a lift at our home. But it can not handle the weight of the new boat. What is the groups experiance of keeping the 340 on a lift? Should I upgrade the lift or just have it removed and keep the 340 in the water? Any other pros and cons about using a lift are also welcome.

What is best way to clean up the 'covers' on the salon sink and trash bin. They have discoloered and have a few scratches. Is there is special finish or paint I can apply?
