340 SUNDANCER THREAD

Well the Hurley Davits worked out great. I installed them with a friend in about 1 hour. More importantly I was finally able to bring along my dinghy with 5 hp engine attached to our favorite party cove this weekend. The product is solid and stable at 20 knots with the dink, engine and stuff such as a big deflated towable stored inside the dinghy. You must secure bow, stern and mid dinghy with either lines cleated to boat or bungy cords. Once back at the marina I simply pulled two pins and the davit structure went into the dock box leaving just the two low profile mounting points on the swim platform. I recommend Hurley Davits. I'll post pics.

Has anyone put the aft bed together in the 2003 model? It slides out to the box containing the central vac and there are 4 pieces to use as filler. I have used several configurations and nothing seems to use all pieces and fit properly. Sea Ray says that the aft should make to a double but I doubt that can happen.

Help we have friends coming for a weekend to go to the Blue Angels air show and I need to be able to sleep them as comfortably as possible.

I plan on taking a picture and posting it inside one of the cabinets close by. Nothing like a day of fun then trying to put the jigsaw puzzle of a bed together for someone. ;}

We left it as a bed for 4 years. Don't remember how I did it.

This is our 4th season with our 340. We absolutely love it. We have a genny too. it is an absolute must.

In my opinion, there should be a forum on CSR for just 340 DA's

Final cost about $850. I ordered the 8 inch cradle (after doing the calculations provided on hurley website)which leaves just about enough room to squeeze between the dinghy and transom. Of course alot of the dinghy is hanging out over the water but still secure in the Davits.

Bummer thats the closest I've come to getting a real answer. I have chatted with a gentleman at Sea Ray and all he could tell me was that it pulled out and the insert pieces would insert. My two long pieces will not fit side by side and I know if something has to be forced that it probibly is'nt right. Thanks for your consideration and if you ever come by a pic I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks again!

Thank you! I have the extra piece. There are 4 total. I have tried to put the two long pieces side by side using the two smaller pieces as filler to finish. The problem I was having the other day was that the two longer pieces would not fit side by side without forcing. I will keep going back and trying until I figure it out.

I have to put the 2 pieces down at the same time...similar to installing the last 2 pieces of a floor in an inflatable dinghy. Start the the inside edges of the 2 pieces touching at the bottom. They will be up in the air, forming a teepee type shape. Then push from the center and they will lay flat and side by side.

Has anyone extended the aft bed in a 340 DA? Our aft bed is comparable to a Twin bed, but we would like to have a Queen size bed. Currently, the slide out bed buts against the central vac storage closet, but if it could be made to go over the top of the closet, you could gain an additional 24 inches.
We were thinking of intergrading the insert cushion from the upper deck/lounge table some how - any comments or suggestions?

Hello everyone, I have a couple of questions,

1-what is everyone doing for sheets and comforters on the 01 340 da? Is there a reasonably priced place to buy something that fits better. I hate our comforter hanging down

2-my next question is about the posts that I have read about adding a tv to the aft bulkhead. I assume that it is just above the entrance to the aft cabin. What did you do with the space the 15" crap tv that is in the cabinets to the right in the galley? Did you make that into storage and if so what did you do for a door. Does anyone have pictures of the TV attached to the bulk head?

Thanks
Steve

Steve,
I just finished installing my flat screen. I bolted the frame with thru bolts gaining access through the hatch door underneath the helm.
I also pulled the antenna wire and ac through there as well.
Here's a pic:

Also, I ordered a quilted pillow top and fitted sheets from Tufted Toppers.
And...I ordered custom teak steps from Goodale Marine.

I just bought a 2001 340 and would like to mount a tv on the bulkhead as well. What size tv did you install and what type of tv mount did you use? I was wondering if the curved bulkhead would be a problem.

Thanks

Like someone else on this thread, I installed a 32" flatscreen. Mine was a Sony Bravia and I found it was VERY light....a good thing...an LCD, low power useage.
I have it on ac of course but connected to an inverter to watch while on anchor, without having to use the generator.
Not sure of the overall dimensions but any larger it would not have looked right on the bulkhead.
Also, was the perfect size for watching from the bunk....am in the process of removing the swing out small tv that comes standard for that year (mine is 2004) and intend to install icemaker in that space.

Tony B, how did you run the "AC" wires through the helm? Pics would help. I just ran mine down the right side of the bulk head and around the back of the stairs. I would love to conceal the wires!!! I do have some flex loom covering them so it really doesn't look THAT bad as the pic shows.

My vacuum pump is staying on (ka-chunking) after a flush and only way to shut it off is to turn off the head at the electric panel. Anyone ever had this problem? Some posters in maintenance forum spoke of vacuum switch assembly being a possibility. Anyone have any thoughts or experiences? anyone know where the assembly is located on the 340? Thanks!
