So, has anyone ever installed a double DIN stereo in their boat? My boat has a Sony stereo and disc changer currently installed. I really have no use for a disc changer and was thinking of pulling both and installing a double DIN stereo in their place. The boat is new to me so I haven't traced everything out yet, but it has 4 - 5 1/4 or 6 inch speakers in the cabin and 4 of the same in the seating area around the cockpit. There is a fader in the dash that fades the 2 in the cockpit from the 2 in the rear seating area. I also have 1 - 10" IB sub. So, I am sure I have an amp somewhere, but haven't located it yet. Any ideas? Also, I am curious how it would be wired where the cabin music remains at a lower volume than the speakers up top? With a total of 9 speakers running I assume there may be a 5 channel amp and the receiver runs the other 4 speakers. I am looking at installing some Polk Audio sub/subs and building a box/boxes. They require smaller air space. Anyone have any suggestions?
