310 Sundancer Thread (2007 & newer)

Hopefully picking up tomorrow a 2007 310 Sundancer, Twin 350 MAGs, V-Drives.
The pumps did not come on during survey. Worse case scenario would be $500 (broker saying), however they are going to check if they are still working before replacing them.
I don't think it would be to hard of a job, but hard to explain to the wife.

For what it's worth, check the fuses in the engine bay. One (or two) may be popped out (white tip showing), just push it in.

I agree. Troubleshoot before replacing. Odd that both would fail at the same time.

Another thought. Sometimes bilge pumps are connected to the battery via their own special cable (so they do not go off when you shut the master switch off), If both are gone at the same time, are they getting power?

The emergency pump is fine, but need to replace the other one (attwood 1700gph). Told the broker to leave it alone, I will replace it myself.
On another note, the broker is proceeding slower than expected.

Boat is in the slip. A few new zippers and a new name and she'll be all new.

Hi,

Can someone share pictures of their center window on the windshield? Specifically looking for the bottom of the window to determine if any weather stripping or rubber bumpers should be there.

V/r Rick

Very nice. I would be interested in more pictures of your Bimini top. I need more shade :)

Im sure it's an aftermarket product. I'll take some pictures next time I put it up.
I have zippers issues, broken, not working properly, etc. Any advice on where to buy marine zippers from? A buddy of mine has the right equipment to do this type of work. Anything you have done different that you really like?

And... Cockpit cover vs Camper Canvas: Was given a credit for a cockpit cover that was supposed to come with the boat. Deciding if I should order the original cover from Great Lakes or have one custom made locally. Obviously this would be a much bigger cover than previous boat, how much of a pain is to put up/store?

I would price out the cover both ways. My preference is to buy locally. Keep your neighbors employed and you get the benefit of an installed product vs. putting the snaps in yourself. As far as storage its not an issue. I roll up the cover and put in the dockbox.

Great Lakes has the original templates. While I appreciate the local support, one of the very issues I'm having right now is getting that local support to do anything. For two years I've been trying to get a bimini top made or a custom rear arch extension. Five vendors later, they just don't show up. I'm confident my "small" job is not worth their time. I've never asked for a discounted price, a rush job, just show up and do it, I'll pay what you ask. Anyways, I'm going with the vendor that can produce results.

No issues storing my cockpit cover. Either put it under the rear seat cushion to the left or in the dock box depending on the situation. It rolls up nicely and shouldn't be a problem.

Zippers - sailrite seems to have a great selection and they're easy to deal with. I know it's about width and teeth per inch, that's all the help I can provide.

I love my boat, the only thing is the lack of shade is a bit annoying. We stay ahead of the maintenance and try to ensure nothing gets abused. Other than fragging an impeller last year on the hottest day of the year with no moving air (replaced it on the water) on the starboard motor (the one that requires tiny little hands and flexibility of a gymnast to change), it's been a great boat.

PS - while you're taking photos of the Bimini (measuring width would help or look for a manufacture's tag), please take some pics of the front windshield (center glass), as I'm trying to see if weather-striping or a rubber bumper should be anywhere on the bottom edge area. Thanks

Hope this helps

I'll try to take pictures of the camper canvas next time I go to the boat.

More questions:
1. Can I replace the 1700gph Attwood bilge pump with a 2000gph pump? Is it easy to do?
2. Yup, the famous Northstar 100 VHF radio - what is a good replacement? I wish I can either fix that POS or replace it with something I can install myself.
3. Noisy engine compartment hinges, or motor actuators, or lack of lube, or who knows... haven't been able to pinpoint the exact location of noise.
4. Crisper/chiller drawer. It was working fine during survey, somehow now is not cooling at all.
5. Famous Sea Ray duck horn - working fine during survey, now it sounds like a duck shot by one of the Duck Dynasty dudes....
6. How to add more sound (maybe AMPs) to aft/cockpit speakers? Only have 2 in cabin, 2 in cockpit.

That's it for now....

Yes, and yes. The newer pumps are easier to install than those barrel monsters from the factory :)

I went with a Raymarine 260 - mounted the base station box under the dash and the rest is easy.

Takes a grease gun to lube the motors. I forget which lube I used, someone should chime in on that...huge difference.

4. Crisper/chiller drawer. It was working fine during survey, somehow now is not cooling at all.
Turn the knob clockwise to cool and ensure the breaker is on for frig. It's an odd knob, no clicking.

5. Famous Sea Ray duck horn - working fine during survey, now it sounds like a duck shot by one of the Duck Dynasty dudes....
Membrane on the horn is gone and water is likely in the horn. Remove and clean and replace the membrane or just replace the entire thing. eBay has them with factory connectors so you don't even have to splice wires.

I'll defer to others as there are hundreds of options in the stereo department. The owners manual will show wiring diagrams for various configurations, may be worth looking at.

All the answers are in the message above.

First time overnight on the boat. Good times with a few minor hiccups.
While Wife and daughter taking shower an alarm went off. It took me a few minutes to figure it out. So.... Shower pump was inop and the emergency pump alarm was going off. Of course, marina didn't have one. Call Wally across from hotel and they happened to have the same pump, one left (Attwood S750). Bought it, replaced it and back Code-1.
This event trigger a question on what to have in the boat for this type of situations.
I'm thinking about a small portable volt/amp meter, some splices, pliers kit and some basic tools.
Any suggestions??

Cheers!

I have a 2008 310 sundancer and my North Star vhf radio stopped receiving. Does anyone know where the radio controller is installed. I'm thinking bad antenna

The Control Unit is a Black Box that is located above and behind the upper control Panel. If you remove the upper portion where the Smart Craft Guages are you'll be able to see it mounted in the Back!
